Question:

Am I more likely to have my baby early if I am carrying him low?

My whole pregnancy, I've been carrying my son extremely low! Have been having all kinds of pelvic pressure and most pregnancy symptoms a few weeks earlier than the books mention them. I am 35 weeks along but my doctor says that I'm measuring 34 weeks, so what do you think?

(friends and family keep saying I'll go til 42 weeks because "first time moms always go late" but I don't think I'm going to!)

  1. I carried my first son high and my other two low.  All three were taken by csection at 40 weeks.  I don't think it makes any difference.

  2. I'm carrying really low as well, which isn't why I think I will be going early. I've just had the feeling that I will for a while. I met with my monitrice, who will be doing something called "quantum touch" on me once I'm 36 weeks. I told her that I thought I was going to go early or on my due date, and she said most mother's intuition (as long as it's not emotionally driven) are correct. I also knew it was a girl after the second week I knew I was pregnant, and it is.

I could be wrong with myself, though, since I've heard the same thing about moms going at least 5-10 days late.

  3. dont believe everything everyone tells you. Some first time moms go to 42 weeks, and some first time moms go only til 38 weeks. My best friend had her son 2 weeks early. some women just carry lower than others the only true test is when the baby is ready to come out they'll let you know lol

  4. no i carried two of my babies low and one was early but that was my third. you are already 35 weeks so you are just about done. they are right the first one is your longer one. they like to take their time coming out.

  5. Carrying low wouldn't make you go any earlier although I am sure that may not have been the answer you were looking for.  :-)  They do say that first time moms go late, but that isn't always true.  I know plenty of first time moms who delivered before their due date.  Good luck!

  6. Oh, don't listen to them.

All my co-workers and family said, "You'll deliver later then 40 weeks because this is your first time."  My son engaged himself at 38 weeks and was induced at 38 weeks.  So, ha ha to them, right?  ^_^

Go by your instincts.  If you think your son will come early.  Chances are you are right.  We may be first time Moms, but we are still a Mom. . . none the less.

Congratulations and good luck on the delivery of your baby boy.  *hugs*

  7. IF you have hIm early then you do. don't worry. Boys generally cary low.   If you have pelvIc pressure then talk to your doctor.

  8. Dont believe that first time mom stuff. I had my daughter (first child) 4 weeks early but I was in labor for ever. When ever the baby is ready to come he will come just be patient

  9. I carried my first son extremely low. So low that a lot of shirts wouldn't cover my belly when I got further along. I had him at 37 weeks 3 days but that was by scheduled C-section. I had the pressure and pains your talking about. I'm pregnant with my 2nd (25 weeks) and I'm carrying him low as well but not quite as much but still having the pressure and pains again.

  10. Don't believe the first time mom stuff people tell u.  That is not true for everyone. (I'm proof of that)

Carrying him low is no guarantee he will come early though.
