Am I more of a long distance runner?

Well I just started track last week and I have no idea on what my event is. But I did notice something today at practice when we had to jog for 10 minutes straight as our warm up. Well I jogged about 4 laps around the foot ball field I had to walk about 8 steps then I started jogging again and maybe did that a total of 3 times during the ten minutes. After we were done a few of the girls commented that they thought I could run for a really long time since I barely stopped jogging. I'm not very good at sprinting (but it could be because i'm out of shape lol) so do you think long distance type stuff is my thing?

  1. Only you can truly answer that question for yourself. I can, however, help you narrow it down a bit.

-10 minutes is a good amount, and depending on how tired you were at the end, you might know whether or not distance is for you. Also, in any practice, you will always run longer than the event you are training for, so never give up if it feels too hard in practice.

-Have you tried sprinting? It's fun, but doesn't take the same type of skill as distance running. Also, if you want to be a great distance runner, run about 75%-85% of your event then try sprinting the last bit. It will certainly help you win and you also get the best of both worlds!

    Good Luck!

  2. yeah

  3. sounds like a distance cause you have really good stamina.

  4. you are a long distance runner, because u could go a long time jogging, a sprinter could run for a short distance, and will get tired running a long distance
