Question:

Am I normal or do I have an Eating disorder?

I'm 13 and I'm 5ft7, 7st3.

My mum always thinks I'm too thin and sometimes worries about me, but I still think I'm fat. I want to diet and I want to exercise more than usual. I only have a yoghurt and 1/2 an apple for breakfast [although I try to skip the apple or skip breakfast altogether] and when I'm at school I try to give as much of my lunch away or not eat it.

I feel really guilty after eating a big meal.

My mum sometimes implies that she thinks I have an eating disorder, however I'm not sure myself as I think I'm fat.

  1. sounds like you have an eating disorder, you weight is terribly thin sounding to me!! dont worry about feeling guilty, your only 13 for goodness sake!! worry bout that after you have a baby or something!! relax and put on a few pounds!


  2. Without judging you, I will say your weight is too low for your height.  I don't know what build you are, but take a look at a height/weight chart to see what weight you should be for your height.

    The golden rule here - skipping breakfast does NOT HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT.  The body needs food when you get up in the morning to kick-start your metabolism, otherwise it'll be sluggish in burning calories.

    Eat healthy and enjoy your life!

  3. You are way too thin!Listen to your Mother,she cares about you.You are the perfect height-eat up and be happy!You're so young you could eat whatever you like and still have a fab figure.Please listen-EAT and enjoy your food.

You are SO not fat, you're very thin, and your mom has a right to worry.  Especially if you think you're fat and exercise excessively.  If you have these feelings of guilt after eating, and skimp on eating as much as possible, then you really have a problem.  If you think you're fat, that's a REASON to have an ED, not something to make people believe you DON'T have one.  You need to come clean about these problems, because unaided, they cause death.  

  5. who cares? if you have an eating disorder then deal with it. there are people who are starving over the world who would love to be in a situation where they have food readily available like you. have some consideration

  6. It is very possible. In fact anorexia has symptoms of guilt when eating a meal, as well as giving away food and skipping meals. As long as you eat only when you are hungary...and actually eat, your weight will be good and normal for you. Only those who eat out of boredom frequently when not hungary and who eat many processed foods during this time will have weight issues. Eating three meals a day and even light snacking when hungary will not cause weight issues.

  8. it sounds like u do. you're not fat btw. you're NOT FAT!!! and im telling you this from the bottom of my heart. i choose to eat less than 700 cals a day to become skinnier, even though i think i have a good body. could be better, but still okay. im not fat but i want to become skinny. then when im skinny ill stay the same weight. easy peasy. you can do it just like me, trust me you aren't fat but if you want then you can lose weight. wow u are 5'7'' you are soo lucky, and you're only 13!!! taller ppl look thinner aswell.

Obviously if you think you're fat, you hardly eat, and your mother thinks you're too thin...you have a problem.  You can continue to torture yourself and relish in the amazingness of being anorexic...or you can snap out of it, eat a burger, put on a few pounds and realize that life really isn't all that bad.  Buy yourself something pretty, something other than BLACK.  Buy your self a new cd...something other than DEPRESSING c**p.  If you genuinely think you're fat (which you're obviously not) then please  go talk to a professional and get help before it gets out of control.  There are so many more important things in a young girls life than worrying at 13 about your weight.  Smile, your mom loves you!!!
