Am I okay?

Okay, I have braces. Today, I was babysitting, and my nephew grabbed my bangs and pulled really hard so my mouth hit his crib edge. there was a little blood from a cut on my gum, but that's it. when I wiggle my tooth it isnt REALLY loose, and after I cleaned the cut, there wasnt anything else. You don't think he broke a root do you? Wouldn't I have known? I don't think it's any looser, but I'm worried. Should I be worried?

It does wiggle a little, but isn't that just from my teeth moving from braces?

  1. Worry about his ribcage if you want to worry about something. A loose tooth will 're-seat' itself within a couple of days of normal eating and brushing.

Broke a root? No. There would be a great deal of pain if that happened.

If you were having pain, I would strongly suggest you see the dentist immediately. Since you are under the care of a dentist, do mention it to him/her at your next appointment.

  2. It is possible to knock a tooth loose, and it will tighten up again if you are gentle.  I would give it a week, though.  If you have an appointment with your orthodontist in the coming week, I would let him know so he/she doesn't add any extra pressure with a new wire.
