Question:

Am I on target with my running?

I started running in January, I'm a 21 year old female, I'm not overweight (though I'd like to lose some) and the fastest mile I've ever run was around 9 something in high school. Since January I can run five miles without stopping, but I go kind of slow. I can run 3 miles in 27 minutes and a mile in a little under 8. Am I on target, as far as progress is concerned? I've always wanted to be a runner and I'm hoping that I can build up to where I'm really good at it and do marathons and the like. I run outside on the road and parts of it are at an incline, if that helps with the assessment.

  1. There is certainly progress.  You are getting better, form what i can see.  You may not be a fast runner, but you're determined, and you're working, and that's what counts.  so long as you work, you will progress.  Marathons are a long way off still, and you may need to devote an entire year to training for it, but as of now it isn't impossible for you to do it in the future

    g'luck, and keep running!
