I needed some cash so I decided to make a lawn mowing business. I made fliers but no one responded, then I went around asking still didn't get any houses. Am I missing something or am I just out of luck.

  1. Instead of fliers, leave coupons for a free or cheap mow.  For example, hand out coupons for your lawn to get mowed for only $3.  You'll get tons of business!

Then, after the job is done, let them know what your normal rate is (charge at least $15).  This way, you will have gotten your foot in the door and they will have had the opportunity to observe the quality of your work.

Also offer them a seasonal plan at some discounted rate.  For example, if it's $15 per mow, give them a discount of $10 per mow if they agree to buy 10+ mows from you all upfront.

P.S.  After you have mowed their lawn for $3, the customer is going to feel really crappy about taking advantage of you like that.  So, he (or she) is going to be WAY more likely to use you on a permanent basis.

  2. Maybe  ask  a  couple  of  them  what  kind  of  deal  would  get  them  interested  .

Ask   what   they  would  be  willing  to  pay  for   a  trial  job .

If  it  is  at  all  reasonable ,  take  the  job  then  later ,

Discuss  with  them  if  it   was  to  their  liking  or  if  anything   needed  improvement .

Maybe  they'll   like  your  work  and  have  you  back  and  maybe  a  raise  .

People  are  having  some  $$$$  issues  right  now  because  of  fast  price  rises  in  gas  &  food   but  keep  trying .

    Good  Luck

  3. Landscaping is a competitive field. You will need to attract new customers by offering better services, and prices.

Once you find one customer, network network network....basically have them refer you to their friends.

    good luck

  4. I would knock on doors with tall grass and offer them a very low price, for the first time.  Then give them a fair price based on monthly service, ie, three or four times per month, to be paid after service is provided.

If you give good service, you will get referrals, which is the best form of advertising.  Don't give up.  You'll get there.
