Am I over-watering or under-watering my vegetable garden

Question

How do I know if I am over-watering or under-watering my cucumbers and tomatoes? A few of the leaves are turning yellow but, I don't know if it caused from the bright sun or watering problems?

I water them a few times a week, sometimes more if it is really hot out. They are planted in large containers with good drainage.

Definately do not watre them 3 times a day ..geezz lol at that answer..tomatos suaully need watering a couple times a week..BUT..considering you are growing them in containers, and the dcontainers have good drainage, you may need to water them once a day prety deeply...some containers dry out quicker, but you stil want good drainage holes..do not water them from above this will aid in burning the leaves  and also a chance of fungis creating..water from underneath the plants..also a good boost of epsom salt scattered underneath them and then slightly watered in will help alot...I am going to post a couple links here and a few pictures of my garden...

You can also buy a watering meter with a probe to test your moisture bfore you water..home depot,wal mart,lowes all places with major garden centers have them..heres a picture of one..They are very inexpensive..

get a hand full of dirt and squeeze into a ball-if it sticks together with no water squishing out-your good-if it crumbles apart then to dry-watering is only good if it goes down deep so once a week is all it really needs-leaves will turn yellow as time goes on and plant grows

For Plants like tomatoes and cucumbers, you Reeeeaaalllyy need to water them a lot. From what i've read, you're Under-Watering them. They should be watered at LEAST 3 times a day.Good Luck
