Am I overstudying for my SAT's?

Hi everyone! I am taking the SAT's in 2 months. I was wondering, do you think I am over-studying? Or should I study more?

Math - 3 hours a day

Writing Prompt - 1 hour a day

Read my 2 SAT books - 2 hours a day

Vocabulary = 50 words a day, no time

total = 6 hours

ESTIMATING by November:

About 248 hours of writing, math, and my 2 SAT books.

And 3000 vocabulary words. I already know "very well" 125 words so far.

I am a perfectionist so I really want to pass this test.

Thanks guys!

  1. I think you're over-doing it.  Don't get me wrong, I think its great that you're studying but I dont understand how its physically possible to have time for all of that studying AND regular school work/after school activities.  Remember, SAT scores are not the only thing colleges look at.  It's important to be well-rounded and be more than just a test score to the administrators.  If worse comes to worse and you don't like your score, you can always take it again!  I suppose if you have the time to study, do homework, and maintain a social life, then it could be alright.

  2. d**n good for you, i barely haad time to answer 1 question on my test

  3. I don't think it's overboard.

As long as you're doing good in school, and maintain your grades and no relationships (friends, boys, family, etc.) get ruined because of it, then you're fine.

  4. No, I do not think you are over-studying. :D

  5. I would say so.  It's really not as bad as it may seem.  Sure, it follows you to college but after admissions, nobody really cares.  I would be afraid that you are going to burn out since you started so early, but if you enjoy it then keep on working through the easiest years of your life.

  6. As long as you can manage everything without a problem, don't worry.

I took it last year for 7th grade and I didn't study or anything, just relaxed and took a shot at it. No problem at all. But, that method may not work for you. :)

  7. If you can study this much and still live the rest of your life to the fullest and still go out with friends and see your family and everything, you should be fine. But if you're starting to turn down invitations and opportunities, saying, "I have to study for the SAT." then yes, you're going overboard. Think about whether the rest of your life is still going well and then you'll know if you need to cut back a little. A little bit a day gets you farther than 6 hours!! Try maybe 2 hours spread out throughout the day. You'll get the same results and you'll be able to remember more.

  8. the SAT's are hard. but i got a 1200 and 1300 ( i took it twice) and manged to get into a private school and only pay $650.00  for a semester.

now its out of 2400. don't worry try your best. and if you feel it not good enough then you can retake it.

as long as you not neglecting you classes at school and not burning yourself out. or not having a life outside of studying  and school you might want to tone it down a bite.

also the higher your SAT score the more school will want you and will fight over you. so you just need to write out the pros and cons and see which if best.
