I just put my 17 month old son in daycare. He's going 3 days a week for 5 hours or less a day & I'm paying $125 a week. Is this a good price?

  1. It will vary GREATLY depending on where you live. If you live in or near a big city, you'll be paying a lot more than you would if you lived in a rural area. So it's impossible for us to tell you if you're paying too much. Your best and quickest method of finding out the "going rate" for your area is to get out your phone book and start calling around. Even if a daycare says they are full, say you're just calling for prices that's all. No need to leave your name or anything. Within 30 minutes you should have your answer!

  2. that is alot.. you are paying for the price of full time!

i would look for another place, UNLESS you are happy with them which is very different.. We have to pay the price for them to really take care of our children.

  3. Are you comfortable with where he is at? You pay for that comfort of knowing your child is safe and well taken care of. You also have to take into account that babies and toddlers require much more attention and care, and you have to pay for that. You didn't mention if he was potty trained, or what meals are included. That also makes a difference in if you are paying the right price.

The child care provider should have a list of all prices, part time and full time, just ask her for it.

  4. i am paying 125 a week for my son to go there for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. when i cut down to part time which was only about 3 days a week she had me pay 25 dollars a day, but again she is a private in home daycare and we are in a smaller town in wisconsin. in my opinion yes you are but it could just depend on your area. try calling some other daycares in your area and ask them what their rates would be for the number of days you need care. that should give you a good idea of what is the norm in your area.

  5. have u tried getting childcare assistance?

  6. That seems about right to me.  From my understanding, most daycares charge the same no matter how many hours a day they are there.

  7. no because when my sister was in daycare we payed $200 for 5 days a week and about 7 hours a day . but it also depends if they have really good sevice or not.

  8. Oh yeah you are paying alot. Of course if you  live in LA I guess not. however, here in Georgia. it is $125 a week for 8 hrs.

  9. On yahoo opinions will differ.

You should talk to other parents who are using this daycare(:

Or even call the daycare and speak to the person in charge. That them explain this to you.

  10. oh yes!!! i pay 37 a week!!!! im on the dhs program!!! too much!!

  11. Nobody on Yahoo!Answers can answer that question to benefit you.  It is different for everybody!

If you have this type of question (other examples, is 4.05/g too expensive for gas?, etc.), you need to call several daycare facilities in your area and determine what the average price is for daycare.  Then you can tell if $125 is too much or too little.

Now, your assignment (in addition to figuring out the answer to your question)... go look up Capitalism in en.wikipedia.org

    and study it.
