Question:

Am I pregnant if I used a First Response ER preg test and got an extremely faint 2nd line?

First thing I did yesterday morning was take the First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test. I dipped it in my cup of urine for 10-15 seconds. I was only supposed to do 5 seconds. After that I got one strong pink line and one EXTREMELY faint 2nd pink line. From a distance you wouldn't even see this 2nd line. But up close and REALLY looking.. it's there. The test I took the previous day didn't have the 2nd line. I wasn't timing it but I'm sure it was less than 10 minutes and probably more like 2 minutes when both lines showed. I took the test again first thing the next morning (today) and got only one pink line. I don't understand. I will keep testing but want to know if this has happened to anyone else. My period is due the day after tomorrow. I also took a cheap pregnancy test this morning not using first morning urine and got a negative result.

  1. You are so pregnant!  Take it again today.  That faint pink line will be even darker.  Same thing happened to me w/ my first child.  I even called the 1800 number on the First Response box.  They were right...I now have a 15 month old daughter!

  2. It sounds promising.  A line is a line.  If you are concerned than take another one tomorrow.  Morning urine is the best to test with.  I used the same test, First Response ER, and I got a BFP yesterday which was 4 days before my AF was expected.  The cheapie test probably do not have the detection that the FRER does.  I would use the early response again in the morning, I am sure that the line will get darker as the HCG level gets higher.

    Good Luck and Congratualations!!

  3. This happened to me, too, and I'm now 16 weeks pregnant.  Try taking one of those new digital ones, that's what I did when I tested myself again after the faint line one.  A lot easier to decipher.  Congrats!

  4. i don't think your pregnant but if you don't get your period when your suppose to take another test and if it still says negative go to the doctor.

  5. If you can wait, wait until the day your period is due. I am in the same boat I want to test so bad right now it is hard to wait, but my period is not due until the 25. I have to wait until Monday. I would take the guess work out of it though and pay a little extra for the digital tests that say pregnant or not pregnant.  GOOD LUCK! BABY DUST to you! Let us know what the results are

  6. Any second line, faint or not, means a positive result.

  7. Unless the line was not complete. You are absolutely pregnant!

  8. You probably are. I would wait and do another one in a few days and see what it says.

  9. Sometimes you have to wait until you are actually late for an accurate result (even with the more expensive tests). I too took a test yesterday morning (not with first morning urine) and it came back negative...still no AF and I am now 1 day late. I would recommend waiting until the day you are due for your period and take a test as soon as you get up...if it is still negative and you still have gotten your period then call your doctor for some blood work.

Good Luck to both of us!!

  10. I lost all hope in home pregnancy tests. When my wife and I were trying to get pregnant, my wife missed her period by a couple days. We went and bought several brands of pregnancy tests and out of 3 different brands and who knows how many tests, only one of them had the slightest indication of a double line. It was just like you described, if you look at it hard enough you can see it, but it was very, VERY faint. Turns out she was pregnant though. She gave birth to our first child on November 23, 07... the cutest 8lb 2oz baby boy I've ever seen. :D
