Am I pregnant or is this a more serious issue?

My period was supposed to come August 22nd, but it still hasn't came. It's the 26th right now, and I'm a little worried.

The day before I start my period I usually get cramps. They didn't come this time. I have been having cramps all day today, but still no period.

I got worried and thought I was pregnant, so I bought a pregnancy test on the 23rd. I took it that night around 9 pm.

It showed up negative...

But I still think I'm pregnant, because I haven't had my period yet.

My soon to be husband and I do have unprotected s*x occasionally.

My sister said that ALL pregnancy tests need to be taken in the morning because of the pregnancy hormone.

I don't know what to believe.

I don't have health insurance or money at all, so going to the doctor for anything is going to be a mess.

Am I pregnant, or is this a more serious issue?

p.s. I can't afford to go buy more pregnancy tests... the good ones are about 5 dollars, and my fiance and I are currently unemployed. :|

  1. go to a clinic.. the pregnancy test is a lot more accurate and FREE!

It is better to know... because if you are pregnant.. .you have a lot of decisions to make.

Look up a local clinic... maybe a county clinic or a planned parenthood.

  2. As the test recommends, you should take it in the morning when you have concentrated urine for best results.

I don't believe they all must be taken in the morning, but for best chances they do.  It doesn't look like a serious issue.

Since you are unable to afford health care, you need to start having protected s*x now.  If you were pregnant, prenatal health care is vitally important to you and the baby.

But for now, I would just assume you are pregnant.  Take your vitamins, don't drink alcohol or caffeine and play the waiting game.  It may not be fun, but it is the best course of action for you right now.  Avoiding a few things won't hurt in the long run and it is better to be safe than sorry.

  3. well. im only 14, but when my friends dont get their period for a few days, they dont worry.

when it becoms about a week that you didnt have your period, then worry.

  4. Wow. Please don't take any of what I'm about to say rudely!?

If you can't even afford to buy a pregnancy test, how are you going to afford a baby? If you knew you didn't have money and were in a tough spot, why would you have unprotected s*x. Regardless of whether he is your soon to be husband.

I am pretty sure you are pregnant. You need to get straightened out! I really hope you aren't planning an abortion IF you are pregnant. Its not smart to raise a baby with no money. Adoption would be a better way to go. Although this is your life.

I would recommend planned parenthood. They can help.

I'm really sorry for sounding rude!

    Good luck!

  5. If you can't afford protection or a pregnancy test, you shouldn't be having s*x.  I don't care how old you are.  Because if you can't afford that, you certainly can't afford a baby.  You do need to take the test with your first urination of the day (for most people that is in the morning, but there are those people who work nights or whatever).

Stress can delay your period, maybe that's your problem.  But if you're having unprotected s*x, you're likely pregnant.

Unfortunately my crystal ball broke this morning, so I can't tell you if you're pregnant.  Go to the health department or planned parenthood.  They can usually help you with testing.

  6. if ur getting cramps, most likely u are going to get ur period. Dont worry about it, and just relax. Stress makes it delay too. You can go to a clinic, theres a lot of them that do urine preganancy tests for free. I would suggest a blood preganancy test since its more accurate, but they charge for that one (not a lot, i took one once and im not too sure on the price but i KNOW it was way less than $100). either way, I wouldnt be too worried. Good luck.

btw, yes, take the pregancy test in the morning. It is even written in the instructions of a home pregancy test.

  7. Usually you should wait at least 7 days after you miss your period before taking a pregnancy test. Also know that sometimes when your body is going through changes, your menstrual cycle will change as well. If you are cramping today maybe your cycle will come down tomorrow. Just relax, if on the 30th you still don't have your period why don't you see if you have a free clinic in your area and take a test there?

  8. Well Go to a health clinic. And if you are pregnant i would suggest ADOPTION for the simple fact that you can not afford to have a child since you are both unemployed and should not be having UNPROTECTED s*x, cause babies come from that. if you can afford 75 cents to protect yourself you shouldnt have unprotected s*x. im not trying to be mean but its the truth. and that baby will suffer if you cant afford to take care of it. so if you turn out to be prego. i suggest adoption.

  9. Is your period usually predictable down to the day? It very well could be pregnancy. I'd give it a few more days and then go get bloodwork done. It's unexpensive (I had mine done at the hospital for a few bucks), and is reliable. I've also heard you can get tests from dollar stores that will work just fine. I've always taken my tests in the afternoon/evening and they've come out correct. You may just not have been far enough along to detect the hormone when you took yours. While you're unsure in the meantime though, just try to be healthy and stay away from alcohol etc. Good luck!

  10. It's so hard to say.. you could be preggers, your period could be late cause your stressed about all of this.. or it could be something else.. the only way to tell for sure would be to see your doctor (or a planned pregnancy clinic), to get a blood test done. If your not preggers, and still don't have a period, you would have to go see a doctor, for your own good. About taking the HPT's in the morning, they can be taken anytime during the day, but you usually have have higher levels of the hormone they test for in the 1st morning pee.. whatever happens.. good luck & take care. xo
