Question:

Am I putting in too much RAM memory?

I have a sony vaio pcv rx752 and its specs says that it can only hold 1.5gb of RAM memory max

Currently I have 1gb already but want more. But only one slot is left empty

I just found some 1gb RAMs (not the 512mb x2 ones)

Would this work? Is Sony lying to me in that I cant put in more than 1.5gb?

Or is this okay? I dont want my computer exploding lol

~Thanks

  1. no. motherboards are designed to hold specific amount of RAM. besides, there are many types of RAM so be sure that you install the correct type of ram.

  2. it wont explode lol just your computer will not recognize the memory.

you need to get the ram that is only 512(get it online for cheapest price) and put it in the empty spot. If you put in 2 gigs of ram nothing will happen, only your computer will only recognize 1.5 gigs of ram and not 2.

  3. you can't install another two gig ram it would most likely lock up the computer so you need to find the same speed of ddr memory but only 512mb, but beware if they are not matched to the manufacture of the other ram stick you may run into a problem of it not working and you will be stuck with the 512mb or ram.

  4. No Sony is not lying to you , all processors have limited capacity of how much RAM they can handle , so just use another 512 mb RAM , That should be sufficient.

    Take Care.
