I'm currently taking Paxil an antidepressant

as well as neacon birth control pills

I am not sexually active currently it is just to regulate me

I haven't exactly been taking my medication daily.

I've been forgetting a few times

for both medications

so, I've been taking 2 pills of the birth control on some days

and just taking 1 of the antidepressant

with the antidepressants I never took 2.

Recently, I've been feeling worse then EVER

no urge to eat no urge to move just down in the dumps.

and it comes & goes.

Last night I was up until 3:00 AM just crying

for no reason

could this be due to me not taking the pills on a regular basis??

am I putting myself at risk??

If i begin taking the pills on a regular basis will I start feeling better soon??

please help!!!

can't get a doctors appointment until MONDAY

  1. Paxil has a very rapid clearance from the body so if you miss doses not only does it not work, but you feel crappy. If you have problems remembering your antidepressant then asked to be switched to Prozac which has the slowest clearance from the body and you can maintain levels in your blood even if you miss a dose. Also prozac has a weekly formulation where you only need to take it once a week.

  2. If you want the anti depressant to work properly you should pick a certain time of day and take it every day at that same time.  The antidepressant has to build up in your system so if you don't take it every day then it won't work properly.  Ever!  Do not take 2 of them at a time.  Take it as soon as you notice you didn't if its not just a few hours till your next dose.  You also need to take your birth control on a regular basis because you will be putting yourself at risk for pregnancy but it is ok to take two a day until you are caught up.  Take one of your missed ones with the one you should have taken that day.

  3. Whatever the prescribed amount is that is what you should be taking. If you miss on the birth control you cannot double the dosage to make up for the missed day. Since birth control does cause hormonal changes this might be why you are feeling worse. And definitely don't increase the dosage of paxil. You may want to see if there is another doctor you can make an appointment with as you do not want your condition to worsen. Find out if you should even be taking birth control with paxil.

  4. i would definetaly take them on time and on a regular basis  you should start feeling better if you do

  5. You must take any medication as it was prescribed. If you miss a dose never double the dose the next day, it can be very dangerous. You need to have a set time everyday to take your medication. By doing this your giving the medication a chance to work properly.

With depression it is especially important to take the medication on a regular basis.

Crying can be a form of emotional release, and it may be worry some but letting out your feelings is important to your emotional health. I would definitely see your doctor on Monday, and explain what has been happening. I wish you well.
