Question:

Am I ready for AP Physics C?

I took AP Physics B last year and got straight B's, and a 3 on the AP test...I signed up for Physics C for next year, but I'm not sure if I will be ready for it... I didn't study as hard as I could've for Physics B, so maybe if I do put everything into Physics C, I'll succeed? ....also from anyone who did take this course, is it really as hard and difficult as it sounds?...harder than Physics B?

  1. It all matters what you do this year.

Im taking Physics Honors, I have no idea what to expect

  2. Physics B is more algebra based with not much math work, but Physics C is calculus based. If you are good at math and have a strong background in Calc (at least AP calc AB difficulty), you should take it.

If you struggled in Physics B, keep in mind that C is much harder and you have to fully grasp the material or else the AP test is near impossible because it involves complex math and critical thinking (more than B).

I think you might have trouble if you're shooting for a 5 and an A in Physics C, but I'm sure if you have a good foundation from calc, you should be able to get Bs and a 3 in Physics C.

Also remember that Physics C is considered to be one of the hardest AP test offered, so maybe you could take the course but not the AP test? Course difficulty also varies in each school.

    Hope that helps!
