Am I ready for hurricane season?

I live on Maui, and every year I try to do my best to prepare for a hurricane. I know the basics, but I was just wondering about my friends in other places who actually had to use their hurricane kit. We have been so lucky here, and noone ever thinks ahead. Was their something that when you had to evacuate, or come home to devistation, that you wished you had of thought of. I know may silly one, all that canned food water and stuff...what the heck did I think I was going to cook it in! Anyway, may we all be blessed with a calm season and be prepared!

  1. Ask your immediate neighbors (the locals: the indigenous people that have been there and have been through hurricanes, the locals that have been there a long time will give you advice, JUST ASK!!!)  People help people in need, so ASK them......Like us in Earthquake country:  we tell "newbies" what to do to protect their possessions...

  2. Shine; run this by your local city council:

Ask them if they recommend structural strap-netting your building frames.

Refer them to my profile page and Engineering and Physics Q's and A's for more details, but go down and see what they say, anyays!! Might be fun!

I really hope hurricanes avoid the Islands this season, as well as the rest of our Country, especially the Gulf Coast.
