  1. If you feel comfortable with it, sure.

  2. I can't say because i have never seen you ride.

if you feel ready then go ahead!

but seriously... keep in mind that its a lot harder to control your horse at the canter.

  3. Of course! If able ride in an arena so you can concentrate on your posture/balance/etc.. instead of keeping the horse under AS much control. :D

  4. yes. use a reliable pony your first time, so you are more confident that it wont run off etc. try to canter in a straight line first of all, but if you do turn a corner, dont go round it sharply. depending on how big your pony is, then somebody can run with you on a lead rope your first time. I have a 12.2 and I am 14, and can run to his canter easily

  5. cantering is no big deal. i did it the first week i started riding in my life.

  6. If you have cantered on a lungeline before, then you should be able to. Just, maybe before you canter WITHOUT a lungeline, canter again WITH it, to make sure you've got the balance. Also ask your instructor if your ready, cuz we can't rlly tell without actually seeing you canter on a lungeline. Just to be sure.

    Good luck

  7. if you have to ask on the internet if you're ready, then chances are you're not ready. . . go ask your trainer, i'm sure they are more knowledgeable about your skills and if your ready or not

ps you already know the answer to this question.

  8. if you can canter on a lungline then yes no problem!

  9. ya start

  10. Whether you are ready to canter doesn't really have much to do with what you can do now (rising trot, sitting trot, etc.), but your strength and balance as a rider.  Do you have strong legs and good balance? You should talk to you trainer or whoever you ride with and ask their opinion because it's hard to judge your ability without actually being able to see you ride.

  11. Well, have you done any posting without stirups? Thats important to do! You should do that until your legs stop hurting whe you do it and its easy then canter!!!

  12. Ya sure your ready to canter.

But dont get frustrated with it, if you dont get it right away. Cantering requires a lot of balance and leg muscles, so I would work on getting your legs stronger, not just for cantering, but for your overall riding. and its like I said before, if you dont get it right away, dont get frustrated. It took me a couple of months before I was able to actually able to go around the arena a couple of times before breaking. Just be patient, and go with the rhythm of the horse. Its hard to get at first, but have no fear, you will get it! :)

    Good Luck, and Happy Riding!!

  13. well you youve done it a little just do a little at a time i started cantering when i was five but thats because i started when i was 3 but anyway yea do a little more and a little more until yuou think your ready for the big stuff

  14. If you haven't learned how to move the horse laterally, or to collect the horse, I would not start you cantering. To begin cantering without first learning these skills is doing it backwards.  The ability to control the horse's speed, use proper leads, and to stop the horse requires these skills.

  15. When you canter on the lungeline you should be able to do it with no stirrups and while your arms are sticking straight out to the sides. Not both at the same time though. :) This way, you will have enough balance in case your horse pulls something.

  16. Go for it. If you feel really comfortable at a sitting trot and everything, you'll probably be fine. Good luck (:

Just remember to keep your heels down and steer.
