I want to join the army or National Guard. But i'm not sure if i'm physically ready for it or if I have everything i need to join. I'm 17 years old. 6'0" 195. I don't have my High School Diploma, but I do have a GED. I can do about 30 Push-ups without stopping. In two minutes i'm guessing I could do around 45. I can do probably around 90 Sit-ups in 2 minutes. I can run about a mile and a half without stopping now. And it takes me 9 Minutes to run one mile. I have a balanced diet. I also made a 68 on the Practice ASVAB.

  1. physically is only part of the battle, you've got to be mentally ready to commit.

  2. If you go to your local recruiter, they will be able to tell you if you have what it takes to join the military.  I would just like to tell you that you should not believe everything they tell you --especially if they "promise" you a particular job.

They are NOT able to promise you any particular job or training.  There is a phrase in the contract you sign that says that availability of a particular job or school is dependent on the needs of the military.

In other words, if they promise you that you will do a certain job, but the people in charge don't have an opening for that job, they will put you anywhere they chose --and you can't do anything about it.

And -- you are almost certain to be sent to Iraq or Afghanistan one or more times.

  3. Don't worry....if you're not physically ready, they'll make you ready.  Good luck and God bless!

  4. think about where your army might send you first. and for how long and for what reasons.

  5. well if i were you i would study abit causethe higher the score on the ASVAB the better for your job. why can't you just graduate? its alot nicer but they will take you. sounds good talk to the recuriter and see what he says.

  6. Sure go see your recruiter and take the real ASVAB.

  7. LOL Don't worry about physical prowess. They will take care of that. Only officers have to meet any mins to join.

Listen UP! Get your butt down to a recruiter tomorrow! Don't make me come over there and kick your a$$!

  8. Physically, you sound quite able.

17 is within the limits, but rather young to join - don't end up being that kid recruit who has to learn how to make beds and iron his clothes while he's doing his initial training. I used to be one of them, and it's not a nice way to spend your first few weeks in the Army.

  9. Sounds like your ready to me.........They will improve the physical training part of it for ya........dont worry about that.......

  10. good for u??...

    hehe
