Am I ready to skip a grade in math?

Well, i came from another country and now I live in Georgia, USA. and im entering 7th grade, my sister told me that im going to learn pre-algebra, but when i was in my country i already learn algebra 1. So please help me.

  1. talk to your math teacher about this and if he thinks your good enough in math, he could probably advance u!

  3. um... maybe. did you come from a country that doesn't speak english? i doubt it, but its a factor. also have you thought about the math courses your school offers? if your school only offers up until geometry, you're going to have to retake Algebra 1. My advice is to take Algebra 1 again, no only will it be easier for you, but it would allow you time to settle in. check with your school, and see what they can do, maybe a placement test? its customary with most schools.  

  4. Most schools would give a math placement test to put you in the proper level. You transcript should indicate that you took algebra 1 (which can mean a lot of things.) What is the highest course that a seventh grader can take? There may be scheduling issues with taking an "eighth grade" math course like geometry. I assume you will have a guidance counselor that will help you.
