I have galloped and can canter super fast in a small circle my horse has a pasture buddy and she gets a little nerves around somethings when her buddy isn't around like a old hay bale blowing in the wind I have about 2 weeks until the fair and I guess I can take her out and desensitize her on a long walk or something would 2 weeks being over there about 7 times in 2 weeks be enough or should i be over there everyday? I want to do good in the fair this is no fun little show this is a big thing and if my horse messes up its a HUGE deal... I have been in about 3 other small fun shows but NEVER without her pasture buddie would it be smart to take just her out on a very long ride on the road?

  1. Hey you gotta start somewhere, and there's only one way to find out.

Everyone is a beginner the first time.

If you're a horse person and attend shows, you should already know in your heart how supportive and friendly horse show folk are.

Don't worry about embarrassment or failure.

    IT DON'T MATTER!

Getting out there and trying is all that matters.

The first time my ex-sister-in-law ran barrels, her reigns broke and her horse charged the (closed) arena gate! She quickly moved herself over the front of the saddle and leg-locked the horses neck, grabbed his nostrils with both hands and pulled his head back, stopping him in his tracks! Her run was a complete failure, but her quick thinking action STILL earned her a STANDING OVATION from the county fair crowd!

Put your fears and worries away and go out there and try just for the fun of it. Everyone who rides is a hero to those who do not.
