I was told that I will be responsible for any code violations accrued from the time of foreclosure until the bank sells the home. Is that true?

  1. No. you were told wrong. If you sold the house to someone would you be responsible for the maintenance then, NO. When the bank forecloses on you they buy it back. They own it its there problem

  2. Since I have no idea where you live, I can only assume that in most cases you are likely not responsible.

    Good luck !

  3. You are responsible for the lawn maintenance as long as the house is in your name.  Once foreclosure has taken place, and the property is held by the bank, it is their responsibility to maintain the lawn and anything else.

  4. No. Once they've taken possession of it, it's entirely their responsibility.

  5. Yes...you absolutely are.

People think that once the foreclosure happens, they are free to trash the house, stop paying for everything, etc.

You'll find out when you get the bill for what the foreclosure sale didn't cover, just how costly a foreclosure is...not to mention the devastation to your credit rating.

  6. Yes, that's why it is sometimes best to sign the deed to the bank today and be done with it. /

  7. If the bank is just starting the foreclosure, you're still responsible.  Once the bank takes title of the property, they are.  So it depends on where you are in the foreclosure process.

  8. Once they take possession and you have moved out the answer is no. The bank will need to hire a service until the house sells
