Just so you know, I was rooting for the Wings to play against the Penguins for the Stanley Cup. The Red Wings are an awesome team. This will be a great playoff between the best of the best TWO teams. Everyone has there own home team/league. Mine happens to be the Pens. C'mon...Lighten up...Go Penguins!

  1. I just have a hard time respecting a team that was built through years of being less than mediocre. They built this team, only because they sucked sooo bad, for soooo long. Now everyone treats them like they are the greatest thing in hockey. Plus,, I have no respect for them, after throwing the end of their season, to make sure they would get Mario Lemuiex in the draft. Pretty disgraceful in my book, but they are a strong team, and it should be a good series.

  2. I wish we could have a rivalry here, but being in separate conferences I doubt anything will continue past this year.

    GO WINGS!!!!

  3. Erm, Go Wings!

  4. I'm pretty sure you should look up the definition of the word "rivalry"

  5. LOL

  6. The penguins have come a long way to earn the right of the most all around great team. It's not all about Crosby, Malkin, Fleury. It's about teamwork from every member of the team. Detroit definitly has a very good team but no one is more deserving of where they are today than the Penguins.

  7. Where have you been. Signed up on the 20th? Your fellow wagon riders welcome you, Johnny Come Lately.

  8. Lets Go Pens! they are truely amazing <3 #29!!

  9. it's difficult to substitute the already - standing rivalries (Ducks, Flames, and Preds, Hawks, and pseudo rivalry w/ Avs) w/ a team that they will only see twice over the next 3 years in the regular season.

and statistics indicate that it's unlikely that both these teams will meet in the playoffs again more than twice over the next 5 years. It's like saying that we have a rivalry w/ the Canes, Flyers, or Caps.

    great series? yes. rivalry? NO

add - Beer Slayer called it. typical question from typical "new" interest. (many times these ?s go to voting. i.e the asker doesn't care about the answers).

  10. As for the fans, you are seeing a bunch of bandwagon fans homering up the place with idiotic unknowledgeable smack talk.  As "you" had stated it's a good match up, but far from being a rivalry on the ice.

  11. Red and white forever!

  12. Yeah, you're not really using the word "rivalry" correctly. Plus you can't really have a rivalry with a team that isn't in your conference. The Wings and Pens didn't play ONE game against each other in the regular season this year.

  13. Why wouldn't there be a rivalry?  We like who we like and we stick up for them  I DO agree that the Pens are awesome, too, and I hope it is a good, clean series.  But I also hope the Wings win.

  14. Rivalry??? NO.  Do you know what "rivarly" means?  It's going to be a great series but the Wings are going to kick your Pens @ss!!!

    GO WINGS!

  15. what? go wings!!!

  16. Now if you had said Colorado....I would say that is a rivalry.......Even Nashville or Chicago.......but not the Pens.

  17. Rivalry,  err  no.  Keep in mind, that from the stand point of a fan, it is boring to hear everyone say "the wings aren't tough enough", "the wings are a free angency built team".  They added both Dallas Drake, and Darren McCarty (my wifes faveriot player), Kronwall is healthy, and even the skilled players are giving hits.  Toughness is not lacking with this team.  Also, Pen fans talk about how great Crosbey is ( and he IS), but he can't be on the ice for 60 min, and not enough people think that the wings deffense can stop the Pens offense.  I disagree.  Either way, it is going to be a great series, and maybe one of the best in the last 10 years.

    GO WINGS  !!!!

  18. Hard to have a rivalry when you haven't even played once during the regular season

  19. the red wings have a ring for every finger so this year they will be adding 1 more so they can wear it on their toe so it will be #11 GO WINGS

  20. I don't think there is a rivalry at all.  Red wings fans are excited to be playing the Pens.

We don't get to see them often (this year's exhibition doesn't really count) and Pittsburgh is a great team and the Wings wouldn't have it any other way than to have the two best teams play.
