  1. palm

  2. there really is no wrong way to serve a volleyball, if something works for you and you get the ball over then stick with it!

  3. try hitting below your finger but above your wrist... there should be a triangle where you want to serve. but if that doesn't work... do it the way u r doin it!

  4. I hit it with my palm but in my opinion as long as u can get it over the net and not break ur wrist i say go for what works.

ps u r doing it wrong but just do what works best.

  5. i've played volleyball all my life!... use your palm

  6. you have to hit it with your whole palm

  7. yah you are. you have to have one foot in front of the other. then throw the ball up in front of you and hit it with the palm of your hand.

  8. you are supposed to use your palm, but if this is working for you keep doing it. but try to hit the ball with your palm in practice, so you can do it in a later game.

  9. As long as you get the ball over the net I don't see the problem.

  10. you are a bad person.  you hurt my feelings!

  11. use your palm it works best but if it feels better the way your doing it you can do it that way if the results are the same, but you should listen to your choach because the way you do it, it could mess up your wrist/ arm or what ever.

Bust I say listen to your coach, she knows whats best.

  12. Serving with the area right below your palm is a floater; it will cause the ball to move side to side and difficult to pass, it should be fine to have a serve like that, good floaters are hard to pass.

However, if you are spiking you want to avoid that at all cost. There absolutely no control or power in that kind of hit, and makes it harder because you have to get higher up to spike.

Your coach wants you to hit the ball with your palm because it is better to learn that first, because you will be doing that most often. Take a ball and hit it against the wall until you get it, this will simulate a spike. Try to get the ball when it's still above your head and snap your wrist to get a nice slap sound and topspin. A serve will involve the same thing, except you will hit it on top of your head because you don't want as much angle on a serve or else you'll hit your teammates =).

    Hope this helps

  13. i always say if something is working dont fix it.... you should use your palm but i use a semiclosed fist.....

  16. Hitting with the heel of the hand is not wrong.  Unless your coach says it is wrong.  You can keep hitting it with the heel and sit on the bench or work on contacting with your palm.  If you hit it with your palm, you will have more control.

It sounds like your are getting your hand a little late.  Either practice with a toss that is about 3 inches higher or just think about swinging just a little earlier.  And I do mean a LITTLE earlier.  You are letting the ball drop down to the heel of your hand instead of hitting it with your palm.  Practice.  If you have a good serve with your heel, you will have a good serve with your palm.  And it should not take too long.
