Am I stupid to go leave the USA to stay in Thailand?

I was born and raised in a small town in the southern Thailand. Luckily, I have a chance to study in the USA. I came here since I was 17. I am now 23 with Master's Degree. I am thinking of returning home because all my family are in Thailand.

In the US. I just go to school and work. I have no family or friends. I am just focusing on my accomplishments such as higher education, powerful job, and high salary. No fun!

In Thailand, I cannot afford to buy expensive stuffs. I may have to live in a house without Air Conditioner. I hate the house Lizards. I don't like to get wet in the rainny season. However, I miss my family. I want to see their smiles and travel to waterfalls, small beaches, festivals, and markets with them like when I was young. I want to take care of my grand parents and parents. My aunts and uncles don't like me,but it is okay. I have many good loving friends in Thailand.

What do you think? Any thoughts and advice? Thank You

  1. You can't buy family, you can't buy memories, and you can't buy fun. Do what your heart tells you and move back to Thailand. It's better for you in the long run.

  2. Please write me

    supergrass@optusnet.com.au

    counterspy@optusnet.au and/or

    thepathichoose@optusnet.com.au

  3. It certainly isn't a move I would consider, but the best of luck to you.

  4. you have a masters so you should be able to have a better life than your family before you, possibly, maybe your dad was on the high end in Thailand too. While less money you should be middle class with a decent job back home having a masters and good english skills. I don't know what your job is but you can try to go back and forth, living a year in america or better yet england every few years to save some money to bring home. Or work for 10- 15 years save as much as ytou can, visit home on occasion and then after 15 years retire at home with your own land and can still work part time back home.

  5. Maybe you should try to visit on vacations for a few years.  The economic help that you could give to your family by staying here is another angle to think about.

  6. I would think that job competition would be huge there. How are women treated in Thailand? Is the male dominate there? You maybe able to find a good job in the U.S. and have the money to fly back for holidays. If you don`t mind not having stuff you really don`t need then Thailand is OK but if you are addicted to retail they you will miss the U.S.

  7. No dear you're intellectually challenged. I would stay if things are that bad. LEGALLY naturally.

  8. USA last, family first.

  9. perhaps you could do some research on U.S. over seas jobs in Thailand, hire a head hunter to find work as an interpretor, ambasador, over seas buyer, or whatever... try to have the best of both worlds

  10. family always and will always comes first.
