Am I supposed to recycle my neon sign?

I broke a piece off one of the neon tubes and half of it doesn't work any more? If so, where do I recycle it? (Chicago)

  1. OR you could get it fixed.. Look up a local Neon supplier and see what it would cost to have it repaired.

    Otherwise just throw it out in the trash.

  3. Neon signs are not recyclable. Once the tube breaks, the neon gas leaked out. There is no mercury in neon signs.

    You might dispose of it during an electronics waste collection day. Or, just smash it to bits with a hammer and put it in the trash.
