Am I supposed to tip the college delivery guy?

I ordered from Dominos, which is located on campus, on the other side of where my dorm is though. Am I supposed to give a tip even though delivery charges were applied, and paying with my university card?

  1. no, the delivery charge is enough.

  2. As a former delivery driver, I always tip the cost of a gallon of gas. h**l, even a buck or two is better than absolutely nothing. I realize it's not that far of a hike for him but if a few bucks is too steep for ya, perhaps you could get off your lazy butt and get it yourself? (Not trying to be rude, just trying to let you know you're getting an additional service without really paying for it.)

The reason I'm saying you aren't paying for it is because usually the delivery charges don't go to the driver but to the store. I never got a cent of the delivery charges but I did make 5% of the delivery amounts and all of my tips. But it doesn't really cover the rising cost of gas (and car maintenance).

  3. yes, they're all trying to earn money.

Delivery guys usually depend on tips that they recieve.

I think you should tip next time.

  4. only if you have it to give tips are always nic if you can afford them but do it only when its deserved

  5. would you want to get a tip, even if it was just a single dollar if you were in his position? I think if you order something and pick it up, then that's one thing, but I feel anytime you have someone bring it to you, then you should tip something. Delivery charges don't go to the delivery person, just the business.

  6. Sure. Tip them like $3 or so and you're good.

  7. thats totally up 2 u. but if u do u may notice him more often, if he's cute that's a good thing. i don't think he gets a part of that delivery charge though.

  8. Yes you should if you plan on ordering again unless you like funny business being done to your food. I'm positive that the delivery charge does not go to the drivers. For the sake of common courtesy and clean food, you should tip or go pick it up yourself. Their income is dependent upon tips.

  9. no

  10. I would think so, that's part of his wages, and why he's doing this.  I also would think that he would understand that the tip wouldn't be that much from a college student.  Even a $1.50 helps.  Delivery guys don't make the highest wages, and maybe he's in college too, trying to make money.

  11. Yes, the delivery charge does not go to the delivery person. We live just down the street from Papa Johns and We always give them a healthy tip. If you don't want to tip pick it up yourself. Those folks need to pay for gas and wear and tear on their car.
