Am I supposed to write my son's name on his school supplies for pre school?

I got all my son's stuff for pre school but I don't know if I am supposed to write his name on everything or if they just put it all together and share it. I know I should write it on his back pack and his folder but what about his kindermat, watercolors, crayons, glue sticks, and tissues?

  1. Wow I can't even believe that you have to bring all of those supplies just to preschool! Being a preschool teacher, I appreciate the parents that take the time to write and label everything! There have been so many times that I have stood somewhere going through things trying to figure out who's is whos, and when things are labeled, it just makes everything so much easier! I taught 4 and 5 year olds, and after a few months, the children were able to read their names and other children's names on the items around the room as well, so that is a great way to teach, to learn to share, and for other children to learn names as well. Not to mention,  if you ask the child to go get something (say, their glue stick for example and you keep them all in a basket) they can look at the names, and figure out which one is theirs!

  2. Its not actually required. Its for you and your students convience. I think its best though expecially for a pre-schooler so he will learn his name easier as he see it all over his stuff.

  3. if you want to put his name on his things go right ahead you bought them, so there yours, not the schools. and if your son wants to share his things then his positive to get them all back if they have his name on.

  4. It varies, so call the school and ask.

  5. It depends on the preschool.  You'll have to ask them.

  6. write his name on everything.

kids will take things when they are at a young age. so it is smart to put names on everything

  7. I would get some duct tape and place labels on all his personal items.  Better safe than sorry.  Kids' supplies are usually labelled and individualized for health and safety reasons.

Thanks is nice, now give us the 10 points if you plan on having anymore questions answered.:(

  8. from a teachers point of view YES it makes it easier to identify his things when 15 others show up with the same exact thing and it happens everyone in my last class had either Dora, Spider man and Sponge bob items it was a headache until everything was labeled even shoes

  9. His name probably, but I am not positive.

  10. you should

you dont HAVE to but you should

  11. usually on the school supply list it will say like "do not right name kids share" or if it does nt say any thing then i gess so

  12. Usually for preschool, the only things you need to purchase are the items specifically for your child, ie. a change of clothes, snacks or food, diapers and wipes, things of that nature, and yes, everything should be labeled. Because preschools are privately run (and likewise very expensive) items to teach your child and for your child to play with should be provided by the preschool.

Once your child reaches mainstream school that is when they ask for classroom contributions such as crayons, gluesticks, tissues, etc, etc, etc. to help offset the cutbacks in school funding.

If you have to bring in supplies for the PREschool, it looks as if it will go into a community pool like mainstream schools do, however I dont know why....are they being cheap?

  13. Does the teacher have an email ?

If not , then its better to be safe than sorry.

    (:

  14. call the school and ask

  15. Write his name on all of it. If they're all required to have them, then they won't be sharing. The tissues usually get them extra "brownie points" for class, so definately write his name on those.
