I am fixated on buying this Ninja thinking it would be the perfect bike for me. But I am only 5'0" and I am not sure if I will be able to touch the ground at the height I am at. HELP.

  1. You can get lowering kits for the new 2008 250r from www.roaringtoyz.com

  2. It has a seat height of 30.7 in.

I'd guess at 60 inches tall you have maybe a 27 or 28 inch (pants) inseam. Add another inch or so to the ground and you're at ~30 inches leg length.

You should be able to sit on a bike and have both feet flat on the ground, which I don't think you can do. You can probably shift a bit on the seat and put one foot flat on the ground, or just reach and hold the bike up with your toe.

Maybe you should grow some more.

Yeah, try that. Just grow some more. Put emphasis on leg length.

It'd be no fun to just topple over sideways in front of your friends, and it's embarrassing at red lights.

If you have a ski pole...

  3. one time I saw a 5 ft tall girl riding this huge bmw bike. seat was even higher than my cbr..and she was doing fine, she even parked better than me.

if you feel it's too high you can always lower it. but you should be fine..maybe wear stiletto.........

check this forum...it should help you some

  4. go to a dealership and sit on one... that's really the only surefire way to tell... someone could be 5 foot and struggling due to their short legs, while some other 5 foot person comes along and picks it up and takes off as if it were just a bicycle....

  5. i am sure you can sit on the bike,my girlfriend could drive my 02 954rr and she is only 5'4 she was on her tippy toes but she could operate it, i know a person @ 5' can easily hold a ninja 250,i would deff recomend the new bodystyle!!!  maybe your toes will be touching but the bike is soooo light weight!! you will do just fine, plus super super good on gas id say around 70 miles per gallon

  6. Kat:

You are tall enough and this bike is perfect for you.

You may tip toe a bit, but once you get the hang of it, you will rule.

This is one of the best intro bikes around.

Take the MSF class, get the right gear, any will be at your local bike night in 3 weeks.

Wait at least 4 weeks before you get the tattoo.

    Get to gettin girl.

  7. h**l yeah!

  8. Most street bikes seats start at 30 inches (plus the seat height).

You may want to investigate cruiser style bikes as they start at 25 inch seat height.  My Kawasaki Vulcan 500 was just 25 inches at the seat.

    Good Luck...

  9. I know a woman your size that started on one. The bike can be tailored a bit if you need it lower still by shaving some of the seat foam, and lowering the suspension.

  10. You'll need to sit on the bike and ask the dealer to make adjustment to the rear shock.  There are a few things you can make the bike fit you.

1:  have the seat shaved a couple of inches

2:  set the rear shock to the softest position

    3: get lower profile tires

4:  replace the dogbone (the thing that connect the shock to the frame) with a longer one

5: lower the front two shocks (this will affect the handling)

Chances are you wouldn't have to get to #3.

Good luck and enjoy your ride
