Am I the Only One Who Has to Hear Noise To sleep???

Question

I've lived all my life sleeping with a box fan. It's loud and I love it. But when it comes to sleeping somewhere else (camps, other ppl's house, etc.) I can't sleep at all.

I was just wondering if anybody else experiences this, too. And I don't mean like a quiet ceiling fan, either.

i am the same, have a big fan 3 feet from my face and i can sleep. television can work sometimes same with music, but its not the same as a fan

My 2 brother in laws can't sleep without music on or the tv. You aren't alone with the noise.

You are not alone! I bought a portable fan for our camping trip, because I knew I wouldn't get any sleep otherwise. The electric went out one night and I couldn't sleep with out my "buddy box". I've slept with noise ever since I was a teenager...

I sleep better with the white noise as well.

i have to listen to the tv to fall asleep!

housei cant sleep. but yet she sleeps like a baby!

it all depends on what you are used to! cuz ur body

has grown to knowing! so yepp it is perfectly normal!

I am a over the road truck driver and when im home i sleep with the box fan going and get this I take a fan with me when i go out of town because i sleep in a lot of motels, different bed BUT MY FAN

i need noise to sleep. when im at home i have my psp playing on quiet and when i sleep anywhere else i sleep with headphones in my ears.

I have to have the tv on when i sleep. if it goes off or my hubby tries to be sneaky and shut it off i'll wake up and turn it back on. i have to have the noise and light of the tv in order to get to sleep and stay asleep.

I sleep well with radio, comedians, book on tapes, rain especially.

I have to have the fan or the TV on and I can never really sleep anywhere but home sweet home.

I used to be like this. It was usually when I worried a lot or was depressed, and silence always left me alone with my thoughts. Troubled thoughts are infinitely more distracting than fans, music, and even traffic. I am more at peace now, so I can sleep in silence or with any white noise.

I hope this isn't the reason you need noise.

I do I need that white noise to fall asleep. But For me it has to be a consistent sound like the fan you mentioned, or an air conditioner. If I hear a dying cat outside all night and that's the only noise I hear, I probably might not fall asleep.

But anyway a lot of people are like this. You're not the only one.
