Question:

Am I the only Liverpool fan beginning to tire of Rafa Benitez?

I too was one of the loyal Rafa fans since his appointment in 2004. However, following last seasons disappointing display and the fears that this season has the potential to follow a similar path, I would like to know if any of you are starting to lose confidence?

It is only when looking at the success of the Chelsea and Man Utd teams, it becomes apparent that these differences in managerial styles seem to be a factor impeding our team’s success – let’s be honest we were fortunate to finish fourth last season.

What specifically annoys me is the now some what redundant – due to heavy criticism from the media and other managers “resting policy”. Always buying strikers but overlooking the lack of wingers. Playing certain players out of position, Kuyt and benayoun on the wing is an example. I am talking about general bad decisions that you notice over time, this week against Sunderland we played the inexperienced Plessis over Alonso – who finally came on and set up the goal.

So let me know your thoughts guys, I know that Hicks and Gillette are also an issue, but this is just about Benitez.

  1. The only issue I have with Rafa is his constant team switching. If he just picked his best eleven and stuck with them I think he has the potential to allow Liverpool to win the treble.

  2. i bet liverpool end up sacking him soonish. and if they just give him time, he will win them the league. he has had 4 years or so, he should be given at least four more. look at ferguson and wenger. all any manager like him needs is time.

i just bet he doesnt get that time though.

  3. To be Honest Benitez is probably the worst manager of the top 4 clubs, your point about playing players out of position is a valid point, I know other managers do it but not to the extent Benitez does, his transfer record is not the greatest either because apart from Torres and a few others, his signings haven't set the world on fire. I know Benitez has won the Champions League and FA Cup but he has been at Liverpool for 5 years and hasn't managed to win the holy grail of the championship, and being honest Liverpool don't look like they will win it in the next 5 either, it does look like time is running out for Benitez.

  4. I think that if within a couple of months he doesn't show he can get some good performances from this current, strong Liverpool team, he needs to be shown the door.

  5. yeah im  a liverpool-milan fan and i recon this is benitez last season unless he can at least challenge all season for the title, a champions league and FA Cup only saved him his job. his transfer record is appalling , only torres is a good player his signed.  i dont know y he moves strikers on the wing it agrevates me so much

    i feel ur pain

but this is either his make or break season

    so hold on lol

  6. Heck I'm a United fan and I'm starting to get tired from Benitez. I always used to expect tough competition in the league from Liverpool but under Benitez we are barely noticing Liverpool.
