If I were President, and I hope if Obama were today, I would have stopped taking photos with the athletes and flew on the first plane to Tiblisi with 10,000 Marines to make clear that the U.S. will not allow states to violate the territory of other states.

  1. Yes. We don't have the resources to take a hardline with anybody much less Russia.

  2. LOOK MAN<

    OBAMA IS A DEMOCRAT<  THERFORE HE IS A SISSY>

    ONLY SISSYS LIKE OBAMA>

YOUR OBVIOUSLY A MCCAIN SUPPORTER JUST DONT KNOW IT>

  3. Well first you have to find 10,000 available Marines.

They are currently tied up in fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, with some set aside for protection of various US interests around the world.

I'd love to take a hardline stance on Russia, but we currently don't have the manpower to do it.

We also don't want to alienate them when it comes time to get UN help for dealing with Iran.  Economic sanctions only work when countries actually isolate the country in question.  A UN mandate would help, but with Russia being one of the countries that can veto any action by the UN, we are going to need their approval for any sanctions against Iran.

    Add-on:

Well its obvious you believe we should intervene.  And again, I agree with you.

So answer the question I (and a few others) raised.  Where are you going to get the troops to do what you want to do?

Where is Bush, McCain, or Obama supposed to get these troops to go deal with Russia?

You're right on a moral basis.  But in practical reality, you don't pick fights when you have nothing to fight with.  We have nothing to fight Russia with.

Our Navy and Air Force are good, but they can't invade.  And Russia is simply too strong for either our Navy or our Air Force to take it down.  To take this chance, we are going to need our FULL military (army and marines also), and we simply cannot do that right now.

Where do you find the troops for this?  I'm sure Bush, McCain, and Obama would all be ready to listen to your plan if you can find the troops.  This is a black eye for America right now; we have an ally in serious trouble and aren't doing a whole lot about it.

Believe me, if you can think of a way to free up some troopers to respond the way you believe we should, then all three individuals would be more than happy to listen.

  4. i hear he has a fan in lichtenstein who shares your views. the occupied states of amerika already took a stance by providing military advisors to georgia.

  5. Thank you..Welcome to the light side. No one said we should get in a full on war, but we should immediatly stop all business with Russia.

    McCain 08.

  6. Until we're out of Iraq, we have no moral standing to tell any other country what they can and can't do.

  7. George is totally foolish for making demands that he knows will be ignored by the Russians and Putin! But then he's never cared how he will look to the world, so why should this be any different!

  8. Nope.  I'm an Obama supporter and I'm with you on this one.

  9. How?

You want to have a interventionist/isolationist foreign policy by getting involved?

You want to force your way into the fight, picking sides, making feeble allies and strong enemies at the expense of the american workers debt?

Being world police is not American. It is directly ANTI freedom.

  10. Yes, I know of no one, Dem or Repub, except the neocon fools, who want to take a hard line.

Can us supply a non-Fixed news source to support your position?

EDIT: Your opinion is Russia invaded Georgia?  That seems to imply they were unjustified.  I have no idea, but I'd be interested in the fact pattern that brought you to that conclusion.  E.g. we invaded Iraq because Bush said Iraq possessed WMD.  That proved false and with it the justification for war was lost.  I'm still curious what facts led you to conclude Russia is wrong.

  11. I simply think that we have few options with our military being over utilized and currently at war in 2 other countries....and I think sending one or the other weapons or money puts us in an awful position...and telling Russia to stop is a bit hypocritical...and won't be listened to...considering our previous actions in Iraq...so what would you have us do?

  12. I guess you just like Obama. I don't think he knows thing 1 about how to conduct foreign policy or a foreign war. Personally, its not a good time to go to war over Georgia. But I think NATO could do something about it to secure things long enough to broker a peace.

Very hard thing to do with Russia though. They have their own agenda and its not very humane.
