Question:

Am I the only one that thinks the judges are being bias to the Americans in the Olympics?

Look at diving and gymnastics, I'm not saying China isn't good, but the scores they get are not fair.

I've watch Americans do a dive and get 73.-- and China did the same thing, with the same errors and got 80.--. Beyond that Australia did the synchronize dive the best and they got 78.--.

Every other sport that has a judge is favoring the Chinese. In addition, the scoring system is so confusing it just sets a stage for cheating. Americans and other countries are being pushed to the side. If this wasn't Beijing the scores wouldn't be the same.

  1. The judges are fair in my sense. Even though i do want America to win.

  2. I KNOW! with the girls' synchronized diving, the americans did a harder dive, and they were more together, and then the chinese did theirs and it wasn't as hard, and their flips were WAY off and they still got more points! the americans got 7s, 8s, and 8.5s, and the chinese got like 8.5s and 9s! i definitely think they scored unfairly in that one. the chinese definitely are amazing divers, but that scoring wasn't fair.

  3. I kinda agree with you.

All of a sudden america is doing good in the olympics.

    Makes me wonder........

  4. I did notice that too, but the american teams have consistently received  high marks in other competitions.

I have thought for years the judges were clearly biased against the americans.  Olympic boxing is a joke, although its getting better. Remember the winter olympics, where the french and russian judges cheated against the canadian skaters for the russian team?  The old soviet system would have assassinated a fair judge.

  5. YES THEY ARE!

A chinese gymnast fell and she got a better score than one of our girls...and our difficulty was ever harder than hers!

We were getting ripped off on EVERYTHING.

  6. I don't think the Olympics should have even been in China, and in a communist Country. When it comes to sports the trust and honor goes away a long time ago when everyone started taking steroids.

I am not watching the Olympics this year, so I wouldn't know.

  7. If America was winning by a bigger margin in every event, I guess we wouldn't being seeing complaints like this....Diving and Gymnastics are events that China excels at and if Americans are being judged unfair, I wonder what will happen if they are ranked #1 in overall medals...oh god...wait USA is currently number 1. How did that happen

  8. Omg, my husband and I were just talking about this. During the syncro dive, those girls got robbed. They did that third dive so much better than Mexico. Such bull! I don't think they are favoring the Chinese though. Holy cow, the Chinese did some amazing things in gymnastics last night and their dives, wow. We also thought the two "girl" divers tonight did not look like girls. I've done gymnastics for quite a while so the scores seemed very fair to me, but I know the sport.

  9. Yeah it's just you. I think the Americans are doing great.

  10. I think that the judges (even if they are neutral) are so afraid that China will invade their countries or behead them, that they must favor the Chinese. Although the Diving I agree to a point, the China 'grils' (I swear one had a p***s) did better.

However the Gymnasts I agree there was heavy bias. The china girl fell of the beam and she got a higher scorf than Shaun, who was FLAWLESS. It's fear I tell you.

  11. No the judging panel composed of an international panel of judges, one judge from a different country so it is not necessarily biased. The judges scores are supposed to be consistent through the whole panel and any aberrent scores will be tossed or the judge with be sanctioned for bias. As far as diving and gymnastics are concered the difficulty is factored in the scoring which is why minor mistakes in the execution of a routine that is much higher in difficulty may score higher than a perfectly done routine that is not as difficult.

In diving the degree of difficulty is multipled into the score, so the total on a well executed simpler dive will not bring in as many points as a more difficult dive done not as well.

  12. I do not believe it is biased.  The difference in gymnastics is the difficulty factor is usually higher for the Chinese so they start out with a higher score so will end up with a higher score even with more errors.  What may look like it is "similar" can indeed have higher difficulty.

And for Yoda, there have been no comments in the American media claiming there is any bias except in the boxing there has has been discussion of bias, but boxing has always been that way.  So if a few Americans post here that there is bias that is there own opinion from watching themselves and not from the media.

Even if all the scores for the American gymnasts had been adjusted upwards to accommodate all the perceived bias, the Chinese still would not have gotten the gold.  There was a 2.3 difference.  Interestingly the difference in difficulty that was greater for China to start was 2 points.  Difficulty makes a difference.

  13. Bias is basically inevitable in sports with judges, even the commentators on NBC said so. The judges are influenced by the cheers of the crowd even though they are supposed to be unbiased.

  14. of course there being that way, the chinese have hated the americans for century's nothing on the american side will be fair this olympics

  15. I totally agree! It is getting pathetic how much cheating is going on!

  16. all i have to say is i hate china!

and i will not watch the olympics,

so i wouldn't know but i wouldn't be surprised the Chinese government is awful!

  17. I've watched almost all the synchronized diving events. I'm an American, but I have to admit... the Chinese have been doing much better than us at the diving! Their dives are almost flawless.

If anything, I think they're judging China a little unfairly at times.. perhaps because they DON'T want their scores to be perceived as a bias. For instance, one of the American gymnasts stepped out of bounds on the floor dance... a little while later, a Chinese girl did a flawless foor routine, and got the same score (15.2). The Chinese girl did better!

They've got very good atheletes over there, that's for sure!

  18. was'nt one of the judges American?

  19. It's biased, since it's in China, just like it is everyone else. Home field advantage. Just like when they were in the US, they were biased to the US. It's all good.

  20. If you would listen carefully to the commentators (of course I am on NBC and you may not be) they explained exactly why each score was given and then showed slow motion so the viewers could see what they were talking about and the difference was evident as to why some scored higher and others did not.  Example:  After the Aussie divers went the expert commentator said they would not score as high as the Chinese and then went make thru the slow mo pointing out what the deductions would be for, and that what happened when scores came up.  So like the commentators , I felt the judges have been  fair in those sports and did not favor China.  They were simply better and their errors which each have a required number that has to be deducted were not as great..So sorry, I don't agree with you at all. There has been no judge bias for China at all.

Boxing would be the one exception, but it has always been like that in Olympic boxing.

  21. Oh My Gosh YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!

for our guys gymnastics i was watching the other day

this guy did a PERFECT uneven bar routine and stuck his extreme dismount

and they gave him a 15.7 or something and the chinese guys messed up and got like 16's!!!! IT WAS OUTRAGEOUS

  22. i agree with what u said and you are not the only one that thinks the judges are being bias to the Americans in the olympics i think there cheating and helping the chinese.

  23. I agree.  I give anyone kudos if I think they just look like a better team/athlete, but the Chinese seem to be medaling in the sports that are subjective.

  24. I agree about the Diving and Gymnastics judging panel, they are a international judging panel and most probably hate America. Now I think that the Chinese won the competition fair and square, but those judges have been cheating for the Chinese.

  25. i know i saw that exact dive me and my dad and uncle and my dad used to teach dive and saw perfection in their dives but we were astonished so we don't know what to believe

  26. Please.  At least you worded it nicely, but don't buy into the American media's brainwashing, not to mention your fellow Americans' biased opinions.

The judging crew is entirely neutral, and one of them is American.  Because it's being held in China, every other American thinks the judging is biased.  However, there is no international controversy stirred over this, not like the French judging incident in Salt Lake City or the Paul Hamm controversy four years ago in Athens.  Thus, only Americans believe they are getting cheated, but the neutral international judges know better than the biased American media.

  27. I was sort of thinking the same thing but at the same time I just thought I missed something....hmmm maybe they should start having other country's judging country's they aren't from.

  28. Well...  I haven't watched diving yet(I have it recorded)  but in gymnastics the men on the US team do fairly well and they get like 14-15 points.  The Chinese do similar routines and make the same mistakes (i.e not sticking the landing, not holding it for 2 sec etc.)  And yet they score on the upwards of 15-16.  I don't think something as big as the Olympics would let bias judges judge.  Soo they must be doing something better to recieve that score.  But i must admit I was a little confused on the scoring when I saw it.
