I'm eating a spinach salad for lunch, and while the salad is good, I'm getting the creeps from how the spinach is making my teeth feel! EEK! How about you?

  1. Yeah, you're the only one.

  2. ABSOLUTELY NOT!  i LOATH raw spinich.

  3. I believe that because there's so much iron content in spinach, that you can actually "feel" this on your teeth when chewing, dont think of it as creepy, think of it as "all the good you're doing for your body"

  4. i know exactly what you're talking about. i get the same feeling from eating watercress and something similar from unripe bananas. it's horrible :(

i really like baby spinach though - but it's much nicer if you slightly wilt it with hot dressing. removing the stalks should also help.

btw it can't have anything to do with the iron... there isn't so much iron in spinach. the myth started when someone placed the decimal point in the wrong place when describing what's in spinach. read about this and other medical myths here: http://www.uams.edu/news/medical_myths/

  5. No, I feel the same way sometimes!

It's usually better if I wash it really well, but not always. :(

which is really unfortunate, cause I like spinach salads.
