Am I the only one who dislikes tourists?

Question

Most tourists you can quickly pick out from locals.

I don't really know why I dislike tourists, I just do.

Anyone else dislike tourists?

i get tourists visiting me from all over all the time so im used to it. i live in nyc. and when they come over we all act like tourist togetherven though i've lived here all my life.

when you go somewhere new you will be a tourist yourself.

but yeah i can easily distinguish all the tourist here whichc is just abiout everyone even in their looks attitude the way they walk talk the big groups EVERYTHING. they can  be annoying when they take up so much room and ask u to take pics and for the empire state building im like dude just look up but other than that its cool they put in money to  the city with all the c**p they  buy

I work in tourism, have all my life in many different aspects.  I am WITH YOU ON THIS!  for the most part tourists just want information andhave fun, but some of them are just plain miserable. (and no judgement here but most of them are Americans) I'm not sure why, but all the REALLY miserable ones are from the US (not saying ALL U.S. are miserable either. many are very friendly).

However, I feel a lot of people forget that tourism sustains a lot of economies, locally or federally.  It is the biggest industry in the world, and still the fastest growing one (yes! even bigger than oil! lol)/  Many cities would crumble without tourism, many countries would crumble without tourism.  I just wish some tourists would stop being so ignorant and educate themselves a bit.  Also lthey need to learn some common sense and be polite.

From your user name, I can see that you are Jewish. I am Muslim and like you, I can't stand tourists either so it is definitely good that we agree on something........lol.

Anyway, I think the way forward is giving them wrong directions and bad advice (such as it is against the law for tourists to use public transport during the rush hour as it is meant for only citizens as they need to get home from work). Also, send them to really dodgy bars - it's not like they know you so they can't say anything afterwards. Have fun!

Ok wellim doing a tourism course at tafe(am at tafe now XD) and i can easily say its normal to be pissed at tourists.

Living in a major tourist destination myself it dgets to ya.

Tourists and locals are pretty easily recognized yes.
