  1. please find a wildlife rehabilitator in your area to care for the opossum, so that it can be released back into the wild when ready.  it is against the law for you to be in possession of wildlife.

  2. I have wild ones that come on my back porch every week but No, I wouldn't have one of them in my house for a pet. they can be dangerous, carry disease and smelly.

  3. When I was younger we had a mama opossum die in our yard from injuries (probably from a dog).  On her back were five baby opossums still clinging to their mama's hair.  They were so cute, they looked like big mice at that age.  We took them all in and my parents hand raised them all until they were adults.  They were somewhat tame as adults but preferred not to be held--not much personality to them.  They did stink and p**p a lot!  They don't take kindly to being bathed either!   When they were big enough we let them start spending more time outdoors and they'd come back to eat often until eventually they all stopped coming back.  :(   While it was an experience raising them, and they're interesting animals, I wouldn't call them "pets" exactly!   Better to let a professional raise and release that one that you have.  They're a lot of work without much reward for you!

  4. hi

Im a wildlife carer , I try to fix them after a cat attack or I raise them when their Mums been killed. To answer your question,  no I wouldnt have one for a pet they do stink, and they bite and they bite hard, like teeth through finger, yes it hurts, and they poo and wee all the time, and when they come of age and get horny well that is another problem, they get mean.

why not join your local wildlife group and then you can look after them then get the pleasure in releasing them. Yes it is tough out there for the animals but those animals dont belong inside. They also have special diets which can get expensive.
