Question:

Am I the only one who is pissed-off at WalMart?

Every time I go into one of our local Wal-Marts and need assistance, the employee can not speak English. When I asked a manager why this was, I was told Wal-Mart doesn't like to discriminate. So I guess it's up to me to search out an employee who can help me with my question in English. What really gets me is these non-English speaking employees wear a vest that says (in English) "How May I Help You?" It really should be written in Spanish or have a disclaimer at the bottom that if you ask them a question, all you'll get is that blank look of confusion. I don't consider myself a bigot, but my tollerance is wearing thin. I wonder if they'd put a blind guy at the cash register so as not to discriminate?

  1. You got a point. If the employee does not speak English, then his/her vest should say "How May I Help You?" in his/her language. Do they have a suggestion box at the customer service area? Next time I go to WallyWorld, I think I'll drop that in...

  2. You should complain.

    We all should.

If we dont stand up for what we believe how can we expect anyone else to.

This article has some good ideas about the right way to go about complaining with Walmart and getting heard by the right people.

  3. First of all this is for Sam.....English is not our official language. We have no official language in America. But i do believe that they should speak the language that is more common in the area the store is in. Also the reason they have non english speakers is because they do not discriminate. It is not because they are a low paying job. They start everyone at at least minimum wage or more. The reason most people that work at walmart are poor is because they are usually old people or students. Its an easy job, they dont get too many lifers there. As for not liking the language thing, i suggest shopping somewhere else or maybe trying to learn another language. Its the 21st century for christs sake.

  4. The reason is because walmart pays so little that it seeks out the minorities for entry level jobs that a monkey could be trained to do. Unfortunately, these people cant even do that right. A study was published that when walmart puts a new store in, they actually hurt the community because the average worker(after insurance) makes about 13,000 a year, much below the poverty level. Creating more jobs, yes, but sending the surrounding communities into poverty....Nice

NO.  What really should be done is people in the U.S. should learn our language.  And the day they have a blind guy work a cash register is the same day we will have White Appreciation month....erm day...whatever.

  6. Yes i also find this very annoying. English is our national language, so people should speak English in America... especially when working in American stores.
