Salt keeps the coffee fresher in the pot longer. Yes, I do put sugar in it, and you can't taste the salt (the salt goes into the coffee maker, not into each cup)

  1. ewww possibly you are.

i would never do that with coffee

  2. My parents used to do this, and they swore that it improved the flavor as well. However, there are so many better options that Folgers in a can, that they no longer find it necessary.

  3. No, I do that sometimes too. I think it's supposed to keep it from being bitter. Sometimes I put a pinch of cinnamon in too if I want a different flavour.

  4. you're not the only one, no...  some do agree with you, but I've got a refined palate, and I prefer to make fresh coffee, so I don't need to keep if fresh "longer". Rather, I will use my left over coffee for iced coffee, and if I wanted some hot, I'd make a new pot... coffee never lasts long in my house, and I sure don't need the excuse to put more sodium in my diet... what's it cost to brew an entire pot of coffee... $1?  Yeah, you're not the only one, but I don't do it!

  5. I've never done that or even heard of that until today, from you.

  6. yes i guess so. uck sugar maybe. why would u? 4 flavor?

  7. no it takes the bitter out of it, you can also put a pinch of baking soda in tea to do the same thing

  8. Nope never heard of that.

By the way Starbucks doesn't do that. They grind beans everyday and brew fresh batches every 30 minutes. Any residual coffee is dumped.

Intriguing though, I wonder if it actually helps.
