am I the only one who found the republicans use of the 911 and Oklahoma City tragedies for their own political gain; the most tasteless, inappropriate and disgusting thing I have ever seen.

I am outraged by the fact they failed to mention that the Oklahoma City bombing was committed by a “White American right-wing nut job” and that the CIA and the Clinton Administration warned George Bush about the threat of Bin Ladin prior to the attacks and George Bush and John McCain blew them off.

  1. They have no boundaries. Anything for a vote.

  2. It is called FEAR.

You ain't a big fan of Rudy are you?

  3. You forgot to mention that Clinton had the chance to nail Osama after to Cole bombing, but let him get away scott free.  You also forgot to mention that 9/11 was done by Islamic extremists, a subject not even touched at the Democratic Convention.

I guess they are willing to ignore threats to our security in their convention and in the House, Senate, and White House.

  4. No, you're not the only one. The Republicans are tasteless, inappropriate and disgusting and everyone knows it but them.

Their time is coming to an end. I think Americans have finally awaken to their lying, manipulating tactics.

  5. I don't think you can blame McCain for "blowing them off," since McCain wasn't in a position to do so at the time, and still isn't.  (And hopefully will never be.) But since you brought up OKC '95, I'm guessing you remember all the "militia" guys who spoke up for Timothy McVeigh and whoever else was involved with him, including Watergate felon turned talk-show host G. Gordon Liddy.  (Even Nixon, on his Oval Office tapes, said, "He's a little nuts, isn't he?")

The worst part, though, is this: Bringing up 9/11 reminds people of two things.  One is that Osama bin Laden has still not been caught, seven years after Bush said he'd "smoke 'im out." "Dead or alive." The other is that everybody (except maybe Bush himself) has known for years that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.  Bringing 9/11 up at their convention wasn't just over the line, it was completely stupid.

I'll say this for McCain: Though he sometimes seems senile, he's not stupid.  But he was not in control of this convention.  Certainly not to the level that Bush was for the last two, or Obama was at his.  The speeches by Palin, Giuliani, Romney and Huckabee were more appropriate for the Garden in 2004 or the Astrodome in 1992.  (During Giuliani's speech, I saw the camera focus on Bristol Palin, and she had this look on her face like she was begging to be anywhere else on the planet except within sight of that mean scary man from New York.  Being from New Jersey, I felt bad for her.  Not for her mother, though.)

  6. They are just looking at a devastating problem, finding out what caused it, and act to prevent it from happening again, and to make as many people agree with you as possible so you can actually solve something.  The Democrats are using the death tolls of the war to promote their agenda, would you consider that tasteless, inappropriate and disgusting too?

I'm betting that the CIA warned Bill Clinton of al-Qaeda and threats also, I mean, two terrorist attacks happened during his Presidency.  What does he do?  Blow up a warehouse or something?  Right.  At least George W Bush did what the thought was right, and didn't compromise his beliefs.

  7. The GOP always uses tragedy and bigotry to win votes. It's all they seem to have going for them. It's a slap in the face to the true victims of this senseless war, hate crimes against minorities and g*y people, and the poor, uneducated whites who are lulled into thinking rich GOP leaders and corporate executives would dare allow them in their inner circle -- or even their homes.

BTW, 911 was mentioned at the Dems Convention...the fact that no one in 8 years of Bush has found Bin Laden, the man actually responsible!

  8. To your question, yes I feel that they are using anything they can for political gain, and the list is long.  I was terrible disgusted with the RNC and everything I saw from it, right from the moment they cancelled and slowed it down for Gustav's sake....they knew that that hurricane was not going to be dangerous.

  9. yeah, you forgot to mention that 9-11 was a direct retaliation to desert storm.

I thought bill clinton was great, best democratic president we ever had, BUT he like all of them screwed up big and dropped the ball there.

Osama was had and bagged, but no, clinton thought nothing of it.

just like Carter. Hostages taken and carter with "negotiations" and "diplomacy" could NOT get them back. we had them back in 1 month when the next president stepped in because he said, s***w the talking, give em up or get bombed!

  10. Let me add to His Divine Shadow's response. Did you forget that the Dems said God was on their side due to the hurricanes cutting short the RNC?

  11. so are we not suppose to talk about 911 and the oklahoma tragedy now?  i don't see how they were using it for political gain.  you're overreacting, and you DON'T know your facts either.

  12. Sorry Brick. It was Clinton who let Bin Ladin go.

And the problem that I see is  that so many people are happy to forget the real danger out there. Obama in the meantime wants to invite the terrorists out for a kum-by-yah session and to toast marshmallows.

The sad fact is, if Obama gets elected, we will all be toast.

  13. You forgot to mention that Clinton a Demo President had the best chance to take out Bin Ladin before Bush was even in office and fluffed it off I guess he thought all the activity it would cause would interfere with his weekly bj so if you want to blame anyone for 9-11 or the war in Iraq which was a direct result of 9-11 blame the last Democratic President we had ... Clinton...  history will
