  1. I drive a Jeep Commander, that is a FlexFuel Vehicle with the 4.7L V8.  I get about the same mileage as i would with regualr gas, but i save a lot of money at the pump.

the 2008 lineup from Chrysler Group has their 5.7L V8 HEMI w/ MDS as a Hybrid that has electric motors and increases fuel economy by more than 40%.  will be introduces in the Aspens & Durangos first. Then it will be available in the Rams, Dakotas, Commanders.

This particular engine will be available in the GM Lineup using their  big V8, with the MDS technology and will be a Hybrid.  Will be available in Yukons, Tahoes, Suburbans, Escalades and then will be available in the Pick-up trucks.

So, you can still drive a big roomy SUV and be enviromentally friendly too.

as for the Hummers, they should have been left alone in the original design and left in the military.  Most people that drive Hummers, never leave pavement.

  2. I get mad at hummers too! they make me sick, because they produce 30 lbs of CO2 a mile. And people I know that have hummers, only have it because they feel like they are cool, and only have it to drive around the block, to say,"Hey look at me I am better than you because I have a hummer". Well oh yeah? I have a Lexus LS460L so I am of higher class than them, hummer drivers don't even take their **** off the pavement, the only drive it on city streets, and back into other cars in their blindspots, and end up filing an insurance claim, hummer drivers, are environment destroyers, robbers, and snobs. You are not ALONE!!!

  3. I dont i get happy......people are still buying these cars because driving  is their passion and they are cool.........they are not boring like you.

  4. I drive a Mini Cooper.  I don't get angry I get scared when I see the drivers on their cell ....

But I'm not angry they've chosen to drive the gas guzzler.  I'm curious as to how they rationalized the decision.  I think the glamor must fade away quickly though, because they can't park in a lot of spots and their wallets and purses empty in record time keeping the tank full.  Watch one coming and going from a parking lot sometime.  It's very entertaining.

  5. i hate all large SUV drivers

not only are they gas guzzlers, but they accelerate slow, have low maneuverability, hold up traffic, and take up more parking space. Not to mention the lethality of being hit by one of them. They typically have a cell phone talking driver in the cockpit and no passengers. I think SUVs should be taxed to the stone age.

    -edit-

Driving one is like a statement of support (with funding) for middle eastern terrorism. Bin Laden loves SUVs.

Driving large vehicles that are not needed is not only financially stupid, it's unpatriotic.

  6. Anyone who buys a vehicle as a status symbol sucks and that includes hybrid drivers who buy one to show the world how wonderful they are.  I drive a pickup which isn't great on gas but I use that truck as a truck.  I guarantee you that 99% of Hummer drivers don't use their Hummer as a hard-core 4X4 like they are designed to be.

  7. I always get angry when I see a Hummer or a massive SUV like the Escalade.  There is absolutely no reason to own one of these cars, other than a status symbol, which is not a real reason.

Even if you "need" a large car to tow things, you can buy a smaller SUV or a truck.  A Hummer has absolutely no use, other than to waste gas and emit as much greenhouse gases as possible.  In fact, a Hummer has over 4 times the greenhouse gas emissions as a Prius.

    CO2 emissions:

    Prius: 104 g/km

Hummer H3: 346 g/km (this is the new smaller Hummer)

    Escalade: 383 g/km

    Hummer H2: 468 g/km

It also pisses me off that people spread this myth that the Hummer does less environmental damage than the Prius.  This conclusion was based on an extremely flawed study not done by scientists, but by a marketing company (the study was called 'Dust to Dust' and many sites have debunked it).  Hybrid batteries are fully recycleable, and only a small fraction of the car's lifetime energy consumption goes into its production (on the order of 10%).  About 80% of its life time energy consumption is during the driving stage, where the Hummer is incredibly inefficient and the Prius is the most efficient car on the road.

Hummers and other large SUVs need to die.  This will only happen when people stop buying them, but in the meantime at least we can feel a little better that their wallets are constantly empty from having to fill up the gas guzzler tanks.

  8. Since when do you know what an unnecessary vehicle is?

Just because you do not have any use for one does not mean that another person needs one.

They are very good for large families and people who live in areas where you need a reliable 4 wheel drive vehicle.

  9. Why would you get angry? Are you that jealous? They drive them because they like them and can afford them. As for being dangerous? That is crazy. If I was involved in an accident I would much rather be behind the wheel of an automobile with a LOT of sheet metal between me and the point of the crash. Earth friendly??? There is absolutely NO proof that automobiles cause global warming.

Did you know that 3000 years ago there was a "land bridge" between England and Europe, there is actually a city underneath the ocean. What automobiles and industries caused that global warming? The earth has been slowly warming for 3000 years. But it will stop and go back the other way. Global warming is for self centered people that only see what is happening in their life and can not even see that there other times than the one they live in. The truth is the earth has been warming and cooling for millions of years. DO THE RESEARCH and STOP letting someone who has a hidden agenda do all of your thinking for you.

  10. I hate seeing those stupid Toyota Prius cars.  They are not earth friendly.  Not only do they have an engine and use gasoline, but they have a hugh battery pack.  Batteries are the most earth destroying products of human creation.  All the mining and heavy metals it takes to make one, and they don't last long.  I bet the battery pack is good for 100,000 miles max.  That Hummer will still be running in 300,000 miles but you will have had to build 3 Priuses to accomplish the same thing.  I think they call it "false economy" if I am not mistaken.

  11. Apparently you are not the only person who has feelings about the Hummer.  If you look around you in any city, what causes my emotions to become agitated, are the ignorant drivers around me.  They appear to be unable to operate a vehicle safely or pay attention to their driving.  There are far too many "drivers with licenses" who shouldn't be on the road, than to spend the time, in my opinion, to worry about one particular vehicle.  I can see why people are opting for bigger, safer vehicles, so that they can protect themselves from the idiots who drive all the small ones like they think that they are in the Indy 500.  There are many more important issues we should be concerned with like the link below.   Also check out a site with a story about how the states began issuing drivers licenses on the attached link.

  12. 4wd vehicles used to be my favourite, until I found out exactly how unenvironmentally friendly they are.

Unless you live on a farm or in remote area where properly paved roads are inexcessible, there is absolutely no point to have vehicles like this.

  13. It is mildly infuriating to see, but to some people, it's all about image.  A Hummer is a status symbol.  People have different values, and some place their own image over concerns for the environment.

  14. They could have large families, and need a large-sized vehicle, but, I highly doubt that is the case. Hummers, Durango's, etc., are huge cars, and many people feel more important, cooler, or wealthier when they're driving them. That's the reason for many of the people in my area, they like Hummers, or any other ridiculously huge car because it makes them feel a knotch above society, and so they can look down on the people who are driving the smaller/more fuel efficient cars.

  15. i agree...

  16. I feel bad that are angry when you see someone doing something that you don't agree with.   You are a classic liberal.  Wouldn't this be a better country if everyone was forced to live according to your standards?    Who died and made the liberals king?    Although you may not like it, this is still a free country, and people can still choose which car they like.

  17. I do.  I do not see why people buy these d**n things or any other large truck or SUV.  I guess these people do not care that  because most of our oil comes from the middle east.

  18. The world hasn't changed since Hummers were introduced.  People buy big cars because they need the space, because it makes them feel safe, or for other personal reasons.  It's not very helpful to get angry at individual car owners.  Lobby your representatives to enact higher fuel efficiency standards, lower emission standards, and taxes on big gas guzzlers.  These are the steps that will cut down on the number of giant cars.

  19. Low Self-esteem they want to be powerful on the road or show off their power therefor e showing off their stupidity...

  20. sorry to hear your so upset with other peoples lifestyle.

all my cars are V8's and RWD.

    wouldn't own any other type.

sure i have in the past owned 4 cyl. and 1 FWD car. they all sucked.

no power, which is dangerous when trying to get around or merge into traffic.

  21. Oh no.. you are not alone... I went through a phase where everytime I saw a Hummer I would get so angry I would say that I was going to slash all Hummer tires...

I have calmed down a bit since then... But they are ridiculous...

  22. I absolutely love our Dodge Ram 3500!!!

  23. Why should you get angry.  What type of car you or anyone else drives is a matter of personal choice, and it is none of your business what I or anyone else drives.  You have no right to get upset over our choices any more than I have a right to get upset over yours.  You need to grow up.

  24. I think Hummers and other overly sized and overly expensive vehicles are nothing more than status symbols for those lacking self worth, and those who are arrogant and want to flaunt their wealth. My friend calls them "Driveway Penises"

  25. You may not like them but in a free country like the U.S. people are allowed to purchase whatever they want.  That's freedom Tootz.

B.T.W.  I read a interesting article about how the manufacturing of hybrid car batteries is more damaging to the environment then the Hummer is just being driven around.
