I live in Hawaii, and im interested in being an actress but nothing BIG really happens down here. Im a Sophmore and will be taking acting classes and trying to audition for plays, for more experience and to start a good Resume. After high school, im planning on going to a Professional Performing Arts School, to be an Actress and start a career. But, I was concerned about my looks. I have the face, but im fat. Not very fat. But Chubby. I've been on the internet looking for fat/chubby actresses but haven't found much. Just America Farerra. Do you think this will effect the way that Talent Agents or Hollywood, will look at me? Id appreciate the help. No rude answers please:)

  1. you're probably not big at all and even if you are, have you seen hairspray, believe me you'll be ok

  2. Theatre is a reflection of society. It takes all body types to make up society, therefore, it takes all kind of actors to create good theatre. Just hone your craft and don't worry so much about your weight. Besides, if you go to a performing arts school, you will take many classes (movement, dance, stage combat, etc.) that will help to get you into shape.

  3. if you are taking lessons, they have a ginormous list of auditions for people of all types.

  4. First, America Ferrera is hardly fat...she's nicely curvy; so if you compare to her...no worries.

Second, check out actresses like Conchatta Farrel, Kathy Najimy, Kathy Bates, that girl whose name I forget from Hairspray, Raven Symone...there are jobs out there if you have the personality to carry it off.

Good luck as you follow your dream.

  5. So, learn the craft -- and work in a salad.

(w/o a pic how can we tell?) but acting is a talent that comes before your weight -- you WORK for scale -- and not step on them.

Depends on the roles, and whether you wrote the script or not. There's a ton of actresses out there, no pun intended. Not every one has to be a twig -- but, you have to want/try for roles other than the lead, the princess and the love interest. Remember the lead that A. Ferrarra is playing is called "Ugly Betty". It pays the bills, for her. But, there's a lesson in understanding what you're getting into -- and not thinking you should be the Princess or nothing.

Ever SEE a movie or show? there's many other actors, than the female lead. Then again, stay away from McDonald's and you never know. If this is what you want, study it and focus on getting good.

  6. There are more bigger actors/ actresses out there than you think. I have worked with many actors who are bigger than most. Sometimes it works in their favor as to be casted in a character role. Other times, the simply have the talent and that's the bottom line.

It will probably be very difficult for you to be leading lady. I can tell you that much. But look at Hairspray. They are making some drastic changes in theater that have been long awaited.

I have lots of trouble because I'm nearly 6ft tall. And it's hard for me to play a good role if I'm taller than the guy. But I can play the goofy secretary or the evil stepmother and I've even managed to play a few lead roles. (Helena from Midsummer Night's Dream, and Elise from The Miser because they are tall characters)

One of my acting teachers told me this: "Don't ever be ashamed of yourself. Embrace it and the stage will embrace you."

  7. Nobody is too fat or too thin for acting.Everybody shape is good for acting jobs.Acting is a body and facial job. I have seen very fat people acting extremely well as even heroines. Only thing is that you have to impress the audiences with your acting skills and other mannerism, wits, quick responses, diction, expressions etc.

For one, I like plump and chubby girls and get impressed and hate seeing very thin girls with no flesh and long legs.

It all depends on individuals. You please go ahead and start your lessons. Also you may become thin later on in your life.

  8. no you are nevet to fat. there are so many bigger actresses out there. follow your dreams. and don't let people tell you you can't do something

  9. Your talent is what matters not your size. If your focus on your weight that will project to others ,speakings as someone who has lost 137 with still  40 to go. your weight issue will be better handled when you  learn to love yourself as your are right now.

  10. No in acting they look for all shapes and sorts of people

    Good Luck
