I am 19 years old, 6'3 (1,91m), 155 pounds(70kg) and I have never surfed in my life...but I know it must be the greatest experience one man can achieve in his life...I think it is fantastic and I wished I was born somewhere on the coast...to surf all my life...live a simple life...

but I live in Bucharest (Romania) and there are no surfing spots anyware near this place...

I would like to know when it would be too late to start...and what jobs can I take in order to live close to a beach and surf all summer?

  1. theres no age limit.....just take surfing lessons and youll eventually catch on...if ur a life guard then youll be @ the beach like 24/7!!!! :D i<3the beach :D

  2. You are never too old to surf.  If you love the ocean, don't mind getting pounded in the surf until you figure it all out, then go for it.  If you're timid and a novice swimmer, then I would stick to very small beach break and a big sponge board.  Just have fun.  You can stand up pretty quick that way.

When I started to learn I was fifteen and I bought a used fiberglass surfboard.  My buddy, who was already really good, took me out to the places where he always surfed.  I had to learn really quick or else.  I took some pounding but survived and I'm better for it.

Not sure what job would be good.  Look into something that has flexible hours and a boss that wont mind you calling in sick because the surf is going off.

Hope you decide to do it.  It's a great sport and lifestyle.

  3. You are never too old to surf... I was in my late 20's when I went my first time. I too do not live near the coast, and have only surfed once. It was awesome and now I'm hooked and can't wait to go again.

For you I suggest you check out

    www.wannasurf.com

It has a search surf sites by continent so you can find a good spot that's closest to you. From there you can check the envirnmental conditions too... you need to start somewhere that doesn't have huge surf. Also, you can research the area you pick somewhere else online to figure out what kind of jobs are available in that region. Good Luck!

  4. you are not too old to surf! there are people out there learning in their 40's!

  5. yes if you don't surf don't start. hate to be rude but i grew up next to the ocean and have been surfing all my life. The ocean is getting way to crowded for those of us who have been surfing all our lives. To many people move to the coast and over crowd the lineup

  6. you are never too old to start.  Just learn the etiquette.

find a night job like restraunt work.  Hotel jobs at night.

  7. No, surfing is for any age, I started at 16 on a 6.10 ft board. I am now 18, 6,1ft tall, 212 pounds (98kg) put on a bit of weight and got a bit taller but i've had alot of practice. You need a board about a foot taller then yourself. The more you surf the better you get.

  8. I agree with most of the responders here, except one, you are never, never too old to begin surfing, go for it dude.
