I am 5'1, 105lbs and have 31 - 32" hips. I'm not pregnant yet but want to be -- I am just afraid that I'm too small to give birth to it and I dont want a c-section just because of my size...

My mom said I was somewhat of a small baby when I was born -- 6-7lbs but my husband was on the bigger size 9lbs.... am I likely to have abig or small one just based on that?

  1. No, your body does this wonderful thing where it will pull itself into the right shape to pass your baby.

  2. you would be amazed at what your body will do.. you will not be to small to deliver your baby if you get pregnant.. you can have a big or small baby, but listen, your body will adjust to how its supposed to to deliver that child. I have a few TINY friends who have had big babies no problem at all.. your pelvis widens

  3. My body frame is pretty much the same and I had 3 vaginally. So I think your fine. Women of different sizes don't open up sometimes because there body just won't but being little isn't the problem.

  4. It is dependent on your hips rather than anything else.

They will measure baby's head before you go into labour to check it will fit if they have any concerns.

But don't let the thought of a c-section put you off from having children - they are worth every minute!

  5. I am 4/9 and I was 110 pounds and had my son, daughter, and pregnant now...I had them vaginally

  6. Only your OB will be able to tell you that. You hips will spread as you get bigger for the baby. It is amazing what the baby will do to your body. I was very tiny 5'5 and 100 pounds and 120 pounds when I delivered, but I had a very small uterus and I never did get big enough for the baby to come out.It doesn't matter about the weight or the delivery of other babies in the family or you for that matter. It is different for everyone.

I was a 10 pound baby and my husband was over 9 pounds and I thought no way. My baby was 4 pounds. She was delivered emergency csection a month early and I was born late and my husband on time.

  7. The baby's size will be based on your family's inheritance, not the father's. I'm 5'1" and was 115 with the same dimensions and everything and I gave birth to a 8lb. 9.4oz. baby boy vaginally in 16 minutes of pushing,... and everyone thought I sould need a C-section. Just do lots of lunges, stretches, and a decent amount of walking when you're in labor and you should be in tip top shape to give birth vaginally with little trouble.

  8. Your body's size has nothing to do with the size of your birth canal, for one.

Furthermore, I know MANY small women who have given birth vaginally with no complications.

A fellow mum at my daughter's school is 4"9 (Probably 95 pounds at best) and has four kids, all delivered vaginally.
