  1. 6' 2" is not too tall to ride a horse or to showjump so long as you have a good sense of balance; & male riders are often quite tall. When you are learning to ride you will probably be put on the taller horses - so be prepared to be quite high up; if you are uncomfortable with this at the beginning then don't be afraid to ask for a smaller horse (just because you're tall doesn't mean you can't ride anything but the riding school's  giant!), a good riding school should have an appropriate animal.

Be prepared to put in a lot of work - it can take a long time to become a proficient rider, and showjumping requires the rider to be as much an athlete as the horse; be patient and concentrate on learning all you can about horses to prepare you, you may want to volunteer to help out at the local stables. Working with horses can be very rewarding, so enjoy being with them & riding them!

  2. not at all. I have had riders who are 6' 7" and they ride just as good. They only issue (and this is with short people as well) you must get a horse that is tall enough so your legs can give proper ques. I recommend at least a 16.2 hand horse but try more for the 17 hand horse. It will also be more pleasing to the judges to see a well proportioned horse and rider that compliment each other's bodies. Not one that makes the team look silly

    good luck!
