I'm a18 years old, and would like to work as a waitress on a cruise ship. Do I need any special qualifications, or a degree? Is it possible to get on a cruise ship at my young age? I would love to..it would be my dream job! (I'll be 19 soon...)

  1. i don't think your too young, go on PRINCESS cruise line.

but remember they ask you for about 6 months to stay on the ship...

  2. What ever you do make sure you do it on A cruise line that is not or owned ny Carnival.

CARNIVAL SUCKS. And they have plenty of people like me that agree.

  3. No you should not be too young. As long as you have a welcoming personality(because they always want to please customers) you should be fine!

  4. You can do so, but you have to consult with the persons in harbour regarding the age & its qualification. They are the best persons to guide you.

  5. Maybe but I am pretty sure you have to be 21 years of age. Usually the only ones allowed under 21 is a singer/dancer/preformer. So from what I know no you have to be 21(At least for Royal Caribbean and Disney cruises). I would highly reccomend Royal Caribbean. As for waitressing i am pretty sure you don't need any education beyond high school degree but you probably need some sort of expirence in that field. Check into it a little more by going to the cruise ships employment websites and see qualifications! They should tell you the age restricitions and education.  Also if your from the US or Canada it might be hard to get a job without much expirence because most of those jobs are given to foreingers but maybe you would have a better chance if English is your first language! Good luck and look into it!! Maybe we'll see you on our next cruise! :-)

  6. Check out the Cruse line web sites for their employment

    qualifications!

  7. No. Just watch out for the 60-80 year old perverted men, unless they are rich and you can bag one lol...jk.

I think 18 is allowed because you are considered an adult. However I think you need special qualifications to work in certain parts (ie stagework, massage/spa, etc). To do waitress, cater, serving alcohol, cleaning/house keeping shouldnt require anything special, just training.

That would be cool to work on a ship. Good luck!

  8. You should be old enough.  To apply check out a cruise line web site.  Usually at the bottom of the page you can find a link for jobs.  Carnival has just such a link, I just looked at it not 10 minutes ago.  They have a list of jobs, requirements(ie if a degree is required) and an address for resumes.

Good Luck, should be an exciting job if you can get it.
