Question:

Am I unpatriotic if I sacrifice a half mile a gallon for a halfway decent ride?

The max pressure (cold) on my tires is 35. The manufacturer recommends 32 cold. I'm sure the manufacturer spent a lot of time and money determining this number to get the right balance between mileage and comfort. The tires on my car are at 32 cold. I could probably eeke out another quarter or half mile per gallon if I pump the tires to the max but I would sacrifice greatly on the ride. I can afford to give up the mileage and take the better ride.

Am I a bad American? Would an Obama administration arrest someone like me?

  1. He never said max pressure. Way to go, Champ!

Edit: No, not a bad American just someone who wants the government to fix their problems instead of taking it into your own hands. Hey, wait a minute isn't that what Cons accuse Libs of all the time? Huh.

  2. I am so sick of the tire pressure comments. Ugh! People take one small sentence out of millions and turn it into some big thing.

The Fact is that having the correct tire pressure DOES improve Mpg.

  3. ECOVILLAN!

  4. Are you serious?

The Obama admin. would probably set up a check point, just to check all of our tire pressures.

For a few minutes, it would get our minds off of the mess the world is really in.

  5. Don't let anyone tell you what to drive, especially in the name of preventing an occurrence they can't even prove.

  6. The reason they say the max pressure on your tires is 35 is if you add more, you risk hitting something sharp in the road and they blow, they can make your car's driving off kilter if they all aren't even.  (I agree, the tiny bit more inflated they seem to drive better.)

A lot of places now are filing tires up with helium.  It's supposed to be able to maintain tire pressure through heat and cold.  Local tire centers are charging $5 a tire.  Just wanted to pass that along.

You are not a bad American.  You're only doing what the government is allowing you to do.  If they had alternative fuel sources, everyone would be using them instead of oil!

  7. Obama says:

"the world has been waiting for me to check tire pressures to usher in a new golden age where everyone is wealthy, happy and lives forever"

    who couldnt vote for that?

  8. I don't think it matters much, but if Obama gets elected, you can expect to pay a fine for this, and a thousand other ridiculous things.

    He's so clueless.

Yes, this improves gas mileage, but conservation is only going to get us a teeny tiny way there.

We MUST drill for more of our own oil!

If we don't have oil, we will be living exactly the lifestyle we did in the 19th century, and almost nobody 'gets' it at all.

The only reason we live like we do, with all the modern medical and scientific and communication technology, is because of OIL.

We're not smarter than they were back then.

It's just that when we got MACHINES to do all the work, it gave us the time and ability to make stuff that enables us to live in this miracle world we live in.

    It's ALL because of OIL.

    Oil is wonderful stuff!!!!
