Question:

Am I way too behind in cheerleading jumps?

I am going to sixth grade

I can do a spirit tuck, a knee tuck, a double hook, and a spread eagle on plain ground.

I can do a toetouch, herkies, hurdlers, a pike, and a double nine on the trampoline.

Everything else I can't do.

Am I THAT bad?

Any tips on pointing my toes?

  1. probably just depends on the school.  Some schools at that age expect more and some don't expect you to know anything.  I think that's actually a very good start though and you are either a little bit behind of a little bit a head so try and get those jumps you can do on the trampoline on the ground.  Practice them both on the ground and on the trampoline.  perhaps you could get some ankle weights to where when jumping especially when on the trampoline because it will add risistance to build mucles which will improve your jumps on the ground.

  2. No, you're not that behind. The jumps you can do on ground aren't typically used that much in cheerleading, but they help. Just start practicing the jumps you can do on a trampoline on ground. You won't get as much height to begin with, but you'll get there. To help you point your toes, whenever you're stretching in the strattle position, point your toes. And when practicing jumps, focus on your technique before height.
