Question:

Am I web designer, developer, programmer, or something else?

I'm planning for my career and I need to know what exactly I want to become.

I have experience in HTML, XHTML, CSS, RSS, XML, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Flash, Dream Weaver, Fireworks, and Photoshop.

I want to learn Perl, XSL, XSLT, e-commerce, and basically all the major programming and design aspects that make websites.

I have a website which I built from the ground up. I used Notepad to write the code and Photoshop to make the images. Basically, I am well-rounded with web design aspects. So what would I call myself? And what would I get as an annual salary? What if I did freelance?

*So confused*

  1. I'm a bit confused that you haven't found yourself a good job while you know what you are good at and what you would like to learn. :) Maybe you would be interested in this networking jobsite: Jobirn.com. You can chat with hiring managers or recruiters directly via the chat box of the site. All the best wishes!

  2. If you're looking to advance your career and you know html, css, and php I would highly recommend getting a web certificate from logiczap

Check out http://logiczap.com for html, css, and php certifications.

They look awesome in your portfolio and for prospective customers

    Hope that helped!

  3. experience but what level beginner, advance, or somewhere in the middle. Also how fast are you, because people are going to want to know if you can manage the work flow. If you know php you should know how to set up and ecommerce it isn't diffcult, you can make a session cart with mysql (I use tools to save me time as I freelance and can be coding everything)

freelance if you can get a network going, I will say this is a difficult path for some to choose. You got to be a go getter.

working for someone can help get you known and you can even build a database if you want to freelance later. of course it's a salary and you should get paid well because you do like 4 peoples job in one and they look for that, but I am sure you can do it all yourself anyways it would take you too long. You are going to have to negotiate a salary.

  4. You can register at freelance websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , http://eufrelance.com/ , http://scriptlance.biz/ ,etc and start bidding for all web designing projects posted there .
