Am I weird for wanting to wash my new clothes before I wear them for the first time?

No not weird at all.  Someone told me long ago that they treat new clothing with formaldehyde so I always wash my new clothes before wearing too.  I swear since I heard that I can smell it on the new clothes.  It always reminds me of 8th grade science class and dissecting frogs!

new cloths have  sizing in them, makes them look crisp !

so washing them first will make them fit better and feel softer,

No, you are supposed to wash them before wearing, especially underwear. I promise you people try all clothes on sometimes funky and with horrible body odor. A friend of mine said she went shopping with someone who tried clothes on without underwear. It was disgusting. Ever since then I wash all clothes before wearing them. Please Be Warned!!!

I ALWAYS wash my new clothes before i wear them, because you never know who tried them on, how clean that person was. I even was any underwear that i buy even though they are full wrapped in plastic. Just in case :)

i do that too, i dont think it's weird, what if people tried them on before? gross. plus, some clothes are stiff until they're washed.

You should wash them. They have a protective coating on them since people try them on and you need to get that off before wearing them.

Anyway, I don't think it's too strange for you to wash brand-new clothes when someone else may have tried them on..If you're washing your new socks though that's a bit unnecessary..

No, your not weird. Nobody wants to wear clothes someone else already wore without washing it. Gross.

I don't think your weird or that it's odd that you think you have to wash your new clothes before you wear them.  

Maybe someone else tried them on before you bought them.

Maybe you like the smell of your clothes once you wash them.

Maybe you want to dull them up a bit because they look too new.

Maybe you think they have cooties and you want to wash them out.

Maybe you like they way the fit after you wash them for the first time.

Maybe you don't trust that they are actually clean until you wash them.

You just might be a little cautious, of course, I am not a psychiatrist, so if you looking for a an opinion on mental health, I can not help you with that aspect.  As far as I can tell, your perfectly normal for washing your new clothes.
