Question:

Am I wrong on the issue of Global Warming and the Environment?

We can't dig up greenhouse gases (carbon), release them into the atmosphere (emissions), and expect the planet not to a warmer greenhouse (global warming).

I'm a plain-n-simple, common sense guy. My wife says that it make me a p**s-poor romantic, but it helps me see things clearly.

Here's how I see it...

I prefer clean air/water over dirty. It makes sense to reuse, recycle, and reduce what we can & encourage manufacturers to do the same.

It makes sense to pay less for energy by using technologies that already exist & stop relying on oil companies that have themselves in their own best interest & countries that don't like us.

We live by the golden rule with each other, why not with the earth? What you take from the earth you should give back. Don't take what you don't need, and do unto the planet as you'd have the planet do unto you.

Whether global warming is our own doing or not, we're all living like there's no tomorrow and it just doesn't make sense to me.

Am I right or wrong?

  1. I agree with your opinion.  Especially, that we should use resources that are readily available to us.  I believe we should be using water as our main energy source.  Congress is not taking the steps necessary to correct the problems that are devastating families and small businesses.  eg. gas prices/ a need for a resolution.  Two mom and pop gas stations in my area have already ran out of gas because they cannot afford to maintain it.  These entrepreneurs are the backbone of our country.  That being said..the planet it like anything else.  It is going to sustain normal wear and tear.  You can't expect to use something for millions of years and have it in the condition that it was given to you.  To make even a small change in the condition of the environment would mean that everyone on the planet would have to collaborate and work for the same cause.  In my lifetime, I have never seen that happen.  Sad, but true.

  2. Global warming or not, we deal with dirty air and water, polluted food, sick oceans, and permanently decimated land and waterways to support the way we live.  Humans seem to make choices that hurt us and everything in our path more often than not. Whether global warming is a result (or not) we have so many other consequences that will kick us in the a**, I believe that the planet is screwed no matter what we do.  As always, we do too little too late.

  3. Spoken like a true sportsman in the wilderness. Spoken like a nature loving American Indian or any other aboriginal group of people. Some might even say 'Spoken like a Neanderthal' who only spoke with grunts. There is no right or wrong to your thinking, just common sense. It is logical as Spock would say.

  4. You are right, but while renewable energy might be cheaper, the infrastructure isn't.

It's the investment, the initial cost (which is quite large) that puts people off.

The best you can do is try to lead by example, and encourage others to follow.

  5. I don't believe global warming is happening   Show me some proof that is not condemned by someone with equal credentials.  That said, yes you right.  Why should we use up everything.  Why should we pollute our water and earth.  It makes economic sense not to.  That is what will win out.  Economic sense.

  6. I agree.  In fact, I feel like you have stolen my opinion as it is the mirror to yours.

I think like that Native American saying about how we are borrowing the land from our grandchildren's children and need to ensure that it is healthy for their sake.

  7. you are absolutely right, but is it fair that man is being blamed for destroying the earth when there is no evidence to prove it

  8. It does make sense to recycle and conserve, but not at the expense of our standard of living, who wants to use an outhouse? or eat bugs instead of beef? Don't worry about global warming it's not a threat to your children it's a natural cycle that has been ongoing since the planet was formed. Why do people think that the current clime is the only acceptable one? what arrogance.

  9. The first paragraph of your question pretty much sums up why, in the real world deniers get so little traction.

They can come to fourms like this and pat themselves on the back with silly theories that no real scientist would touch with a barge pole or try to push the "true belivers, religion rubbish" or world wide govt conspirisy bull, its all a bit sad really.

The fact is the evidence for GW works from several different fields of science from Co2 levels to sea rise to the shrinking Arctic to the last centuries temp rise.

The best deniers can come back with is Pluto/Mars is warming or silly petitions with fake names or it's cold here this winter and similar nonsense which are laughable.

  10. You are right, but I doubt that enough people will deny themselves luxury in order to save the planet when it won't affect them significantly during their lifetime. I fear that the only real way we can do anything is to reduce the global human population, but the probability of that happening before it's too late is so small I'm more likely to see Jesus on the train to college. If there were less of us we would need fewer resources and the planet may be able to sustain us, but there aren't, so it won't. The world is going to change substantially. Realistically the amount any individual can do to prevent this is negligible.

  11. THANKYOU you are saving the enviroment! keep it up, pass it on! You are right where we all should be. you are 100% right!!!!

  12. I agree

  13. global warming is NOT caused by humans

haha i laughed at this one fact where someone said it hasnt been this hot since 1942...ok thanks for tellin me its been this hot before hahahaha

anyways did u people ever think it might be a natural cycle...kinda like everything else in nature

  14. I concurr with your thoughts, but global warming is'nt caused by man or any byproducts by man. this type of technology is much to advanced than anything we have. but man can delete it one step at a time, if only their were enough money and people to help. everyone is to busy complaining than to help.( too much trouble). for them.http://www.socyberty.com/Activism/First-... IF people would form groups from schools, churches etc. and get salvage licenses and extract the sands of time that man has never touched forever and collect all the treasures they find, in india they discovered a old stone temple under the sands of time near their beach, why not you.  have a nice day.

  15. U are wrong. Gore brain washed U and many others . The CO2 in our atmosphere is not there, where did it go. Wake up --- the plants have done a great job of recycling our O2 but the plants kept the C. This does not mean just trees but down to algae . Then the plants leaves die and fall off they wash down the river to the delta where it breaks down into oil & gas. The plants is doing 2 recycles for us . As long sa we have plants we should not run out of O2 or oil & gas.
