  1. I was told the same thing, when I confronted the nurse about it, I was told that it wasn't the milk that she was worried about, but the bottle that it was given in. Apparently if they fall asleep with the bottle in their mouth, the milk continues to "seep" out and as they are sleeping and not producing saliva, the natural sugars in the milk, can cause tooth decay. Hope this helps

  2. Calcium is necessary for every one, make sure you keep up your intake. unless there is some medical reason - do not stop your intake. you are right - if you do want to be sure get a second opinion - i am a persional trainer and i believe you should not cut it out.

  3. I always thought milk was good for children. My son drank alot of it growing up. He is a teenager now and doesn't drink as much of it, but I can't see how drinking milk can be bad for a growing child.

  4. hm...why don't you compromise and cut back to 1 glass a day, and maybe a little less cheese and yogurt. Too much dairy can hurt a kid, especially at this age, so she's partly right, but you're right that it's wrong to cut it out completely.

  5. Yes, he needs to have a pint a day. You can give it in cheese and yoghurt as well as his milk. You are absolutely right - your son needs the calcium in dairy produce as part of his diet.

Don't think I'd be happy with the advice you were given - Is she a qualified health visitor ? If so, I'd be asking some questions about her competency !!
