Am I wrong to want to go shopping?Mom says so?

Question

I never really went school clothes shopping. I was in another country this summer where I did spend alot but hardly anything on clothes. Then for school clothes shopping I got $150. I got 1 pair of pants, and like 3 shirts. That sure is enough clothes for the year....I need clothes since I outgrew most of mine anyways and picture day is this week. What should I do? I don't have very much money so I can't buy much myself. How do I convince her to take me shopping?

Hi explain to her what you just wrote to us. Tell your mom that most of your clothing is to small now. Your mom cant deny you shopping because then you will only have a few pants and tops for the school year. Tell her that you only want to get a few inexpensive things. Dont expect to go to expensive stores like abercrombie and stuff because you spent a lot on vacation as it is.

Yeah i agree with that girl who said you should just show her how you outgrew your clothes so she'll be convinced that you really do need new clothes.

Try to see it from her perspective. This might make you better understand why she is saying no. Then, sit down and talk with her while she's in a good mood (when she seems happy and is laughing a lot). Casually bring it up in a sneaky way. Like, if you're looking at a magazine, say, "This is such a cute top. It's really in this fall. I sure wish we could go shopping together for some back to school clothes. I'm outgrowing everything in my closet! Isn't that wierd??" Of course, it isn't wierd, but just butter her up. Another good thing to do is include her (bring her along and let her give her opinion). Hey, you might be thinking "No WAY!!", but you may discover that your mom has a good sense of style. I found that out with my own mom. Another good idea?? Offer to pay her back in some way, whether it's with a massage, mani/pedi, extra chores, or babysitting for free.

Show her what everyone else is wearing. Then show her your closet. If worse comes to worse, threaten her with dying your hair black and painting your nails black.

That MIGHT work. Since some mothers are scared crapless of that.

hey I'm in the same prob here i just went on a big trip to san francisco and now when i came back my mom said how she spent all the money on the trip and i grew out of most of my clothes esoecialy my pants and all i got is 2 shirts and 2 pants i cant go back to school like this i usually get all my clothes do you think its wrong to want this after all i got im sorry i didnt really help but im in the sam situation

Well just tell your mom exactly what you just said online (that you grew out of most of your old clothes and you need some new ones for school)

If you tell her this she will probably understand and take you shopping.

If that doesn't work just say that you want to the mall one  day to get 1 shirt that you saw in a commercial.  Then she will take you and when you are in the store bring up the topic of school shopping

Just tell your mom what you just wrote here, that you outgrew most of your clothes so you need new ones, but don't expect a ton of expensive clothes since you spent all the money in another country. I do think though that you should have spent your money better in the first places!!

when my mom acted like that i just had to show her how nothing fit. and then i fake cried and said how i looked so fat because they didnt fit right. worked like a charm lol.
